  Well, you missed the point of this article. The author is calling for pride and dependence on ourselves and not on others. No, a man is not a man because of others. A man is a man if he stands on his own two feet! If you (Greg) or whatever your real name is were to depend on someone else for the food you eat, the rent you pay, and the clothes you put on your body, you would essentially be a slave to your benefactor. The point of this article is for Ghana as a country to move away from the insane, knee-jerk dependence on others to solve our problems by ourselves. And for this mindless need to always compare Ghana to America, it is time this abject nonsense stopped. America is a superpower, and can do a lot that Ghana cannot. It is very silly and it show abject idiocy for anybody to say America borrows and so if Ghana borrows and begs for food, oil, shoes, and cast-off clothes to boot, it is no problem! America can afford to borrow because every nation sends its reserves to that country for safe-keeping. Indeed, the Chinese government and businessmen willingly offer their money to the US; that is where they save their money, not in Yuan, but in dollars. Ghana does not buy items from China, or Germany, or whichever country you can imagine in cedis; she buys them in DOLLARS!!!
