I have heard Mensa Otabil quote a scientific findings in his sermon. Dr. Otabil should not venture into areas he has no knowledge on. The problem with our pastors is that they see themselves as all-in-all. They are medical doctors, lawyers, financial experts, teachers, etc. When Galileo supported Coppernicus's heliocentric model of the solar system which was against the geocentric model which placed the earth as the centre of the universe he was put under house arrest till he died by church. Today, the world including Dr. Otabil know that the sun is at the centre of the universe and not the earth as indicated in the bible and believed by the early church.

On the issue of the big bang and how the universe came to be, Otabil does NOT have the last word. Indeed, he has no duty telling other people what he thinks is the truth in a scientific matter.
Even the scientists who proscribe to the theory of the big bang and try to explain and defend it never argue that they have the last word. They are scientists who are sceptical even of their own findings and are continuously asking more questions.
It is only religious believers like Otabil who think they have the final answers even though they do not deal with any proofs.
Otabil is a clever business man. He should stick to making money and stop trying to tell people what science is. He cannot even convince us of the Bible he teaches, how much less of scientific "facts"?

Scientists are always on guard with the knowledge that their theories can tumble in the face of new evidence. They are also ready to accept they are wrong. They do not profess absolute certitude.
It is believers who think they know with certitude and are not ready to review their knowledge. Their most concrete evidence is the Bible or Quran - two books that are so vague that they can be used to "prove" anything - or nothing.
Btw Einstein never believed in a god who sat down and carefully created the universe laying down its rules.
We all need a God in our daily lives but let's not attribute to him things we are not in a position to prove are due to him. It's only science that makes a genuine attempt to really understand things - and to know the limitations of that understanding.

God Almighty himself is the greatest scientist ever but most of the people he has blessed with a minute portion of his scientific wisdom and knowledge have and continue to disappoint him because such ones have allowed Satan to sow the seed of deceit in them .
