Faulty logic and gross misunderstanding of the issues involved.

Human rights are basic for the protection of human life. They are nothing anybody can vote on to provide or not to provide. THEY HAVE TO BE PROVIDED!!!

Cultural values are NOT basic human values in the sense of basic human rights. Female genital mutilation is a cultural value of those who practice it but everybody now agrees it is evil because it harms those on whom it is practised whose basic human rights are being abused.

Ghana's cultural values are not clearly defined in the manner of a person's basic human rights.

The President of Ghana has sworn to defend the basic human rights of all Ghanaians. This includes protecting LBGT people from all forms of discrimination, bigotry, hatred, threats of death and to defend their rights to the privileges enjoyed by all Ghanaians. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT CAN BE PUT TO A VOTE!!! IT IS A TASK THAT THE PRESIDENT MUST DO whether he likes the practice of homosexuality or not!

Leave homosexuals alone. They do you no harm!

I wholesomely agree that homosexuals should not be persecuted or prosecuted. However, marriage is a cultural engagement that has been preserved for males versus females to ensure propagation of the community and of the human species. Thus Governments must be proactive in preserving this Providential institution.
Homosexuality, bisexuality, and heterosexuality are all avenues to release the primitive instinct of sexual tension. And as long as these are being conducted between consenting adults, I say, leave 'em alone. But if one wants to enter into "Marriage", then it should be between a male and female, regardless of what sexuality one chooses to en-wrap themselves in. This is what needs to be legislated.

Not exactly correct. The human institution of marriage came about from the development of private property. Marriage is a purely human institution that is neither necessary nor sufficient for the propagation of the human species. Human instinct is strong enough to ensure that the species is propagated whether people marry or not or whether men decide to sleep with men or not.

Since marriage is a purely human institution coming out of the development of private property, the same forces can ensure that marriage could also as well be between men and men or women and women. Society will still function properly. It may not be as you know it but it needs not be a bad society.

In the first place, western governments are NOT asking African presidents to use veto power to make their people accept homosexuality or to use veto power in any non-democratic manner.

Secondly, you are confusing cultural rights with basic human rights. The rights of homosexuals to practice homosexuality is a basic human right, not a cultural right. You cannot vote on that. As one of the commentators argued on this thread, whether homosexuals should be allowed to marry or not is something that society can discuss (and perhaps vote on) because marriage is a purely cultural thing. But that is not your argument!

You are arguing that society should vote on whether or not to accept homosexuality (not whether to accept homosexual marriages) because you think that shows democracy. That argument is wrong.

It is another issue altogether when gays demand the right to legally marry. As long as that is not the case, no one has a right to persecute them or interfere with their right to privacy or even tight to assemble and hold meetings or engage socially.
