I think there are a couple of ulama' who can be measured against your standards. I just wish this could be brought, some how, to the notice of the leading ulama' in various regions.

Much as I agree with the concern raised on the need ·for the successor to the national Imamship this must be done based on criteria outlined by Islam. Remember that the institution is the first of ts kind in the history of Muslims in this nation. Therefore no deliberate plan on how one is chosen let alone his successor. With the array of intellectuals, of diverse disciplines, it would be appropriate and timely for the Ummah to make a conscious effort in designing a succession plan for that position.
