  A few such dogs can be found roaming the streets of Accra with no escorts, going free range and looking unkempt, just like our traditional mongrels."

  I am a Ghanaian resident from America, and was (am) appalled at how animals are regarded by Ghanaians! I know of a 'breeder for profit' who only lets his dogs out at night - all day they languish in small dog houses even in this heat! They get NO sun, no contact with anyone but the owner who puts food out at night then leaves. He does not talk to them, does not walk to them, just opens their doors then closes them before the sun comes out! HORRIBLE!!! Dogs have feelings, develop loyalties and are gentle with children - shut them away, like this idiot does, then they distrust everyone AND CAN BECOME DANGEROUS! The worst of it is people who are breeding Pitbulls! They are the number one killer of people in the US, and the number one killer of other pets. There are many counties in America that outlaw them because they are so unpredictable - they can seem nice, then turn and attack a small child. In America the people who buy Pits are bad people, those who don't fit into society, so the dog is supposed to (they think) get them some respect. AVOID PEOPLE WHO HAVE A PITBULL - THEY ARE SICK! I get laughed at because I am so kind and loving to dogs, but dogs end up liking me MORE THAN THEIR OWNERS. Love a pet like a child and it will return your love ten fold.
