Those of us old enough remember the day the NLC asked all Ghanaians to make born fires and burn Nkrumah's books, speeches, photographs, and anything that would remind us of him. Anything that had CPP on it was burned. They were determined to wipe him out of our memories. But they did not succeed.

That is why the Nkrumah museum in Accra is bare today. It doesn't look like similar museums in Europe or America. We destroyed all his things.

THIS NATION IS CURSED FOREVER. ‘This wind of change blowing through Africa is no ordinary wind,’ Nkrumah wrote on the first page of AFRICA MUST UNITE. ‘It is a raging hurricane against which the old order cannot stand.’ In 1966 Nkrumah was toppled by a CIA-supported coup and his books, along with those of senior figures in his party, were burned.

I remember seeing in the Newspaper the faked, doctored, and fuzzy-looking black and white picture of the so-called murdered pregnant woman Nkrumah used for the ritual. That fakery has since characterized the promise by these crooked Politicians of what Ghana would gain from the Coup.

Besides, as much as all of would have liked that the Nsawam Detention Center never existed, we ought to be honest and pragmatic to understand the circumstances that it came by. Yes, many of the inmates might have been sent there by false accusations, it was not Nkrumah who dictated their being imprisoned. Most of them were arrested on suspicion of engaging in subversive activities.

I believe that if Nkrumah had returned to Ghana alive, in the very least, he would have apologized for those excesses. That might have been too late for those who died in the Jail, including J. B. Danquah, who, also, never ceased to scheme even in Prison to have Nkrumah gotten rid off.

On the other hand, I can never see any of Nkrumah's UP/NLM nemeses regretting their murderous actions that triggered the creation of the Detention Center.

There were substantial indications that Nkrumah sought for some reconciliation even before J. B. Danquah was thrown into Detention, requesting for their inclusion in his Government. But the UP/NLM group would have nothing of that, and misused any break in hostilities between the two sides to even plot for bigger chaos.

Dr. Busia was made a member of the Cabinet, for a short period. But since he still only wished for the elimination of Nkrumah from the scene, he was reported to have continued with the plot against Nkrumah with external help, and eventually fled into Exile when the plot was blown and his risk of being apprehended grew by the hour.

So, George, you may have to research for the true facts and try to be more objective in analyzing these stories. And for God's sake, don't buy into the maligning tripping of those who live to perpetuate the lies.

But the for the sake of our Posterity we must all be bold to tell the truth on both Political sides of that era, whether or not we like either side, and whether or not the CPP can ever be revived.

I see the Nation's fate lying not in the resurrection of the CPP as a Political Party, but in Ghanaians conceding our collective mistakes from those Nkrumah days and beyond, and finding a most feasible way forward.

That is the only way we would, as a Nation, fully heal and learn to join hands to rebuild the Nation, even under Partisan Democracy.

We have to learn from our mistakes and not allow the crooked Politicians use the same old tricks to send the country back into doldrums.

Dr Nkrumah was Ghana's gift to the whole of the African Continent. Dr Nkrumah's CPP took over 70% of the vote against J.B. Danquah and co meagre performance and he was even in prison when the polls were conducted by the Oyibo people themselves. Dr Nkrumah had no single need to fear the opposition because their votes would not have been significant any way. Were there real attempts to kill him? A competent Court of Law (in the words of NPP) tried his former paymasters and sentenced them to death. Dr Nkrumah granted them pardon and commuted the death sentence to life imprisonment. As he enjoys glorious majority, why would he intimidate the opposition in any way. Any clear thinking individual should simply catapult himself into their era and imagine what would have been the truth. Ghanaians gave Dr Nkrumah the mandate to implement any policy he wanted or dream of. Would the opposition with their combined 30% be happy? what would they want to do to the man? Let all of us put on our thinking cap. So why would Dr Nkrumah himself stage "attempted murder on himself?" The combined vote of 30% of the opposition was so insignificant. Was Dr Nkrumah to take advice from the opposition? Which President in any era will do that? How then can the man with the people's mandate be a DICTATOR? Dr Nkrumah was for the whole of Africa. His paymasters knew that before they brought him down from Oyiboland. But they thought he would be working for them. He did not. for Ghana, Ghanaians and the whole of Africa he dedicated his life. He threaded dangerous grounds by wanting Africa to rid itself of all colonial domination. He made some progress. He struck fear in the hearts of the colonial masters but he paid the ultimate price with the aid of Ghanaian collaborators.

We Ghanaians are not used to valuing highly original artifacts. A book autographed by Nkrumah that is more than 50 years old should fetch quite a lot more than the author paid for it in Cairo. DHL will not handle it because of the age. I guessed they may want an insurance on it. It Is Nkrumah's actual signature that will make it valuable. And it's likely to be one of the first print runs of the book. If it is auctioned on eBay, it should fetch quite a bit.

One wonders where the other book given to Ali is now - Conscienscism. It may also have been autographed.

The question is, why did Ali leave the books behind? Yes, he had lots of things to carry from Cairo but the books were small and since they were autographed by Nkrumah, they were special copies. Ali, a boxer, didn't need to read them (even educated people find Consciencism difficult to grasp) but they were mementos to be kept, not necessarily to be read.
