Doctor, I consider this Akuffo Addo/Rawlings alliance to be unholy and may be
damaging Nana Addo's image in the NPP but he(Nana) can't see it. The fact of the matter is that Rawlings is perceived by the NPP big wigs including Nana Addo as the one who killed the high court judges. Now why should the semiliterate Nana click an alliance with Rawlings? The NPP is watching Nana but he is not watching. He thinks by going with Rawlings the NDC sympathizers will vote for him. The NPP sympathizers would rather teach him a lesson for trading with an enemy. Nana's head is on the chopping board.

I have made it a cardinal principle to communicate my thoughts to my audience through the best means possible. Once I have chosen to use English as that medium(means), I should use it to move along with my readers. I hold a Ph.D. in English Studies, but I know that I don't have to flaunt that accolade through language use.

Intelligent language users identify with their audiences by not imposing on them as fart as communication (of ideas) from the source to the target in a language that it (they) can understand is concerned. Anybody doing otherwise is either a fool or a bigot to be derided.

In my efforts to share ideas with readers in the online environment, I am guided by the principles of simplicity and appropriateness as far as language (English) is concerned. I have a Ph.D. in English Studies, but I don;'t have to flaunt it about.

Those who know how the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and Dr. Busia used English for politics can make the difference. Dr. Nkrumah got away with his obtuse and high-falutin American English usage whereas Dr. Busia went with his simple phrasal-verb dominated British English and communicated to the ordinary people. Forget about the personal attractions or anything else at the level of politics. It is about language use to communicate with audiences.

I don't come to Ghanaweb to do academic writing for a coterie but to communicate with people who want to relate to me. This is non-academic writing, which I enjoy doing at this level. Why, then, should I indulge in the antiquated Samuel Johnson kind of language use that Okoampah and his ilk relish? We are in the 21st century when the English language is no more as rigid as it used to be!!

Well, those who have the skills will use them as their audiences need. i am not the troglodyte that others are,k which explains why I use clear and simple language to communicate, the subject matter of my writing notwithstanding.

Let the "against people" fire their shots now!!
