Dear Dr Bokor
Hold the fire, please. Take it easy, my dear Doc.
We were all here, yes, when Major Courage Quarshigah shed tears on seeing the very huge crowd at the NPP Rally when the NPP (and Quarshigah) went to campaign at Anlo.
Doctor Bokor, during voting itself, he-he-he, NPP achieved nothing at that same venue.
What I want to highlight is that a lot of people are already feeling uneasy. Uneasy because NPP is campaigning.
But President John IV said, the Akatamanso will start their Campaign at the end of June. Yeah, that is when the ACTUAL scenario comes.
It is then that we shall see what we may not have seen.
Long live Ghana.

Is it really true that the government hasn't met the expectations of the people for which they are complaining (through their chiefs and opinion leaders)?
If so, where is the government failing? Just imagine Akufo-Addo promising to tar the road leading to the palace of the Aflao chief or one of them, which is nothing but a knee-jerk promise. Is that what will win him votes?
Why are the people of the Volta Region not satisfied with whatever the government has been able to provide anywhere in the Region?
Or has the government not done anything at for the Region since being voted for at Elections 2008 and 2012?
Or are the chiefs now the modern-day Oliver Twists asking for more and not getting it, which is spurring them on this mission of blackmail?
Do they even know that the government is responsible for developing the whole country and not separate regions?

While no single adjective can be used to describe a whole ethnic group, certain general trends can easily be discernible.
What kicks the typical Akan is not (and need not be) the same things that kick the typical Ewe. Many Akans EXPECT Ewes to like and value the same things that they (Akans) value. When Ewes don't do that, then they (the Akans) think Ewes are stupid or foolish or whatever...
Many Ewes will think for themselves and not just follow what their chief is saying anymore than Akans will follow whatever their chiefs say. Indeed, the allegiance of Ewes to their chiefs is not as strong as that of, say, the Asantes where the chieftaincy institution is stronger.
A lot of the Ewe vote is NOT going to be influenced by the development projects they see around them. It is not because they don't like development. They do. But they place value on other things too. This is what many people don't understand.
Just ask yourself why the typical Ewe is far more willing to vote for a Northerner than an Akan? You think it's just a matter of development projects? Or just tribalism? After all the Northener is not Ewe! Mills was not Ewe!
Attitudinal changes are needed but Akans cannot expect Ewes to change their attitudes whereas they (the Akans) continue holding on to their own beliefs, prejudices and the resultant attitudes.

Under the NPP, one didn't have to worry much when you fell sick. The NHIS made health care more affordable. Additionally, you could get drugs from the health facilities. The same cannot be said today under the NDC. For whatever reason, during NPP's regime, you could borrow from the bank with a reasonable interest. Banks were chasing people with loans whereas civil servants were able to acquire cars and many essential items through arrangements under what was termed as hire purchase. Again, this doesn't happen anymore because of the unpredictable rates in inflation and interest rates. Lastly, every honest Ghanaian will attest to the fact that businesses were flourishing under the NPP which manifested in the yearly increase in GDP growth, agriculture was doing fairly good but that sector has been declining since 2011. I can go on and on. If every Ghanaian voted on issues such as good governance and economic competence, the NDC would cease to be a political party. It appears that their only idea of governance is to borrow, tax and build which even a JHS graduate can do.
Even if their only priority was infrastructure, Ghana should have been witnessing a significant change in our physical resources like electricity, international standard hospitals in every region. inland ports and a smooth railway system, i.e if you consider the amount of funds they've acquired through loans and increased taxation. Dr Truth, politics is a strange business in Ghana and does not reflect the daily lives led by different tribal groups. For example, you have stated that ''Asantes insult all tribes always''. Yet, the Ashanti & Greater Accra Regions have the largest number of migrants in Ghana. Asante's are the most hospitable tribe in Ghana aside from the Ga people. You also stated that ''Ewes just don't trust NPP & Asantes''. Therefore, you prefer to trust the NDC?
Personally, I cannot see what positive benefits voting for the NPP has brought to the Ashanti Region or voting for the NDC has brought to the Volta Region. Please note that from the list of names you have stated only Kotoka & Deku were Ewe's. I am sure that Harley, was a Ga?
I fully appreciate your feedback & comments which has provided me with a better insight on why some Voltarians are reluctant to vote for the NPP. However, the Government led by Dr Busia was overthrown in 1972, approximately 44 years ago. I believe it is time to move on and that Ewes & Asante's should be voting on policy matters and not on tribal lines. Neither the Volta or Ashanti Region has benefited from voting on tribal lines.

A married couple went to the hospital together to have their baby
delivered. Upon their arrival, the doctor said he had invented a new
machine that would transfer a portion of the mother’s labor pain to
the father.
He asked if they were willing to try it out. They were both very much in favor of it. The doctor set the knob to 10 percent for starters, explaining that even 10 percent was probably more pain than the father had ever experienced before.
But as the labor progressed, the husband felt fine, so he asked the
doctor to go ahead and bump it up a notch. The doctor then adjusted
the machine to 20 percent pain transfer.
The husband was still feeling fine. The doctor checked the husband’s
blood pressure and pulse and was amazed at how well he was doing. At
this point, they decided to try for 50 percent. The husband continued
to feel quite well. Since it was obviously helping out his wife
considerably, he encouraged the doctor to transfer ALL the pain to
him. The wife delivered a healthy baby with virtually no pain. She and her
husband were ecstatic.
When they got home, the mailman was dead on their porch.
The moral of the story is that Nana Addo is the mail man who had peddled stories that her husband has abandoned her.
Despite the woman's health, the husband took all the pain into her labor.
When Nana Addo was the MP for the Kyebi,he did not produce water for them, how can he produce water to the people at Aflao?

I can smell a hilarious mood by the npp supporters on their perceived turn around by the Volta region's people and chiefs as a result of Akuffo's call on them. What they fail to see is that courtesy demands that welcome, which the Ghanaian hospitality accords to special guests, which finds expression in praise singing and solidarity and to take advantage to explore the political terrain.
It would have been very wrong for the Chiefs not to have welcomed the main opposition party's leader who had called on them and as custom demand he was accorded the usual traditional welcome with a hospitality befitting the occasion.
But could the overly welcome be a tactical ploy to ride above the perceived impression of the Volta region being the world bank of the ndc or is the npp right in thinking that they now have the region in their palm.I doubt that.

Well, they don't have to win the region. That will be too much for them to hope for. What they r hoping for is to get more presidential votes than the last time to tip the scales in a close call. Last time A-A got almost 15% of the presidential vote in the region. If they can get like say 20% this time, with things elsewhere remaining like they were four years, ago A-A can win it all. A-A is not really interested in the parliamentary seats in the region. He can form a govt even with a minority of parliamentary seats. If he has his way, he'll tell the people of the region to vote for their NDC parliamentary candidates but to give him the presidential vote. But, of course, he can't say this in public.
If his tour takes him to the northern parts of the region, he will be in friendly territory. There are two constituencies there in the north with few Ewes and they have always been partial to the Busia-Danquah group. His message there will be (or must be) different from the one he delivers in the heartland of Eweland.
Yes, he'll be welcome wherever he goes in the region. Curtesy demands it as of right. What the voters do in the secrecy of the ballot enclosure will be a different thing.
We wait to see how things develop.

NPP Cynicism in he recent past any person from the Volta Region who voiced out his support for NDC is said by NPP and its members in the Volta Region to have herd mentality. So we are now being made to know that it is only when Voltarians support NDC that they have herd mentality, they are trokoshis, thieves and killers. But we are now being told that as soon as people in the Volta Region support NPP they cease to have herd mentality, the Acholors will be call Christian and Ali Mahmud.
It was only two weeks ago when people from all works of life who are supporters of NPP castigated two chiefs one from the Central Region and another from the Eastern Region for supporting NDC.
The fact is as we have written already NPP is just a fascist party the does not believe in the existence of other parties and therefore multiparty democracy. NPP and its supporter and members do not believe in the right of people to association and not to associate.
The fact is that NDC has provided the people in the areas that Nana Akufo-Addo visited that they will not vote for NPP during November, 2016 elections. The fact however is that some chiefs want to deceive Nana and take some monies from him.
The shock that the Volta Region will have is that NDC ministers in the region will be charged with false charges as the case was in 2001 when NPP came to power. The real plan it that Nana Akufo-Addo does not believe in a multiparty democracy the reason why they call people who support NDC all sorts of names. When NPP was in power from 2001 to 2009 what they always tell Ghanaians was that they will see to it that after their eight years in power the NDC party will be none-existent.
It is interesting and it looks as if the chiefs in the various places that Nana visited have shown that they do not have any dignity and self respect that they are ready to stoop so low for Nana and NPP to walk over them after all the insults.
We are well aware that those chiefs who insulted their own people will sooner or later face challenge from them. Anlos are well aware of how Kufuor imposed a chief on them. They should also remember the Sallah case of 1969 and Tsatsu Tsikata and others cases in 2001. Let NPP and its supporters spare us this cynicism.

Conspiracy theories. Why do you think anybody hates your tribe? Or do you believe that a devil will enter you to hate Ewes the very moment you become an NPP member? What nonsense is this? I don't often hear this constant nonsense from Akans even though they also have many reasons to fear the NDC but you Ewes have made it a routine to constantly remind us of a supposed hatred by NPP and other tribes for you.
If you don't like the NPP, that's your right, but please don't invite us into this useless realm of tribalism. You must learn to move on as most of us have done. We have married many beautiful Ewe ladies just as some of our women have also accepted your fellow Ewe men. In fact most of my favourite university lecturers were Ewes. And for your information, many Ewes have made Kumasi their permanent home and their children may never step foot in the Volta Region.
One of my closest friends who happens to be half Ewe cannot make a single coherent statement in Ewe. We always tease him but that's no big deal. What I'm trying to drive at is that we should move on as a people since our common enemy is not ourselves but poverty. Asantes will never go to war with Ewes and Ewes will never attack Asantes or any Akan tribe. We will continue to insult each other, maybe until end of time, but we will never fight or kill ourselves. We've gone beyond that stage so don't allow any politician or any idiot on Ghanaweb to feed you with hatred. You can be smarter than this if you want to.
