And you have the impudence? Have you compromised your touch on tradition? Don't you have a fully blown and grown elders among your kindreds? what are all these vituperations, vitriolic attacks and an absolute show of sacrilege meant to achieve? Oh My God!! why have we so soon lost our tradition and moral fibre at this tender age? Have thrown them to the dogs? l don't want to conclude that, u are big disgrace to tradition at this time because the opportunity exist for you to build bridges, retract this unsavoury so called open letter which will be occasioned by an unqualified apology to the ROYAL without delay. l am not from your tradition, I hail far away from my base in Volta and the least to countenance is this show of unguarded piece. A saying goes, a child who disregards counsel to sanitize the soup by removing the hand of the monkey in it, should apportion no one blame when indicted of cannibalism or murder.

Kennedy Agyapong recently said something to the effect that all parties have dirty linen in their cupboard but a particular party is fond of washing theirs in public.It is obvious you are doing some one's PR job for them. Whether this swill work is another thing.
It is an opportunity to learn about our culture though. Bernard, is it customary for a son to inherit the father in Asante culture. I was of the opinion that the Bantama hene will be succeeded by his nephew. If any one can share their thoughts on this 'puduo' institution, this will be desirable.

The Bantama Stool remains in the gift of the Asantehene. Otumfuo Osei Tutu I created it for the first Amankwatia who served as his Stool Carrier, in recognition of his bravery in battle.

Amankwatia was among 7 young men who accompanied then Beema Osei Tutu to Denkyira and Akwamu where Osei Tutu learned statecraft at Abankesieso and Akwamufie respectively.

When Osei Tutu I made Amankwatia Ekontihene (he who became a Chief due to bravery), he also made the other 6 young men who accompanied him Chiefs, by creating the EKONTI DIVISION of Kumase also known as ATUO NSON or Seven Gunners in recognition of their service.

Ekontihene/Kontihene is now sometimes erroneously called Krontihene.

Osei Tutu I also created the town of Bantama for the Konti Fekuo.

The Bantamahene Stool is NOT a royal Stool. It is a Puduo Stool which remains in the gift of Asantehene. While the Asantehene through history has reserved the Stool for the sons (and grandsons in case of no sons alive), Otumfuo can reverse course and put anyone on the Bantama Puduo Stool.

The writer has probably destroyed whatever claims the person he is promoting and his brothers have to the Stool, FOREVER.

I will suggest your ‘rightful heir’ upon reading this trashy article, should publicly disown the trashy sentiments you have expressed therein; and unqualifiedly apologize to Konti Fekuo and then to Manhyia.

The correct thing you should have done, was for you and your interests, to seek redress by appealing (dwantoa) to an Omanhene to advance your cause at Manhyia, prior to the new man being presented to, and accepted by Otumfuo yesterday. Recall that when Konti Fekuo went to the Manhyia the previous Monday to present the man to Asantehene; they were sent home for protocol breach.

Now you have shown GROSS disrespect for your cause. I believe you should consume your drinks and fall into a deep trance. Only then will you realize you cannot take on what you cannot carry.

The general point is, if Bantama stool is the so-called "gift" of the Asantehene--which maybe true--then this Asantehene should stop claiming he wanted "Puduo ba" whenever the stool becomes vacant. Asantehene should say it right from the beginning that he has a person in mind already so don't let anyone waste time to contest, period! Don't create fake criteria so people who fit that criteria would come forward to contest only to turn around and give it to someone else who doesn't the criteria previously set. That is the argument here. I know my Asante and Bantama histories,too.

The Bantama stool was created and handed over to the Dagomba in appreciation for their gallant display of bravery in the fight between the Asantes and the Denkyera people. It was also done to encourage the citizens of the warrior Kingdom of Dagbon to stay in Asante. The Dagombas chose one of their junior warriors and asked him to "Ban tima", to wit, Hold it for me. The first occupant of the stool was Fuseini Tia. Over time, He was given Amankwaa, an Asante name. Hence the name Amankwaatia. The Dagomba are noted for using skin and paterlinear in inheritance. To this day the Bantama chief still using the skin to remember the tradition among other Dagbon customs. Technically the Bantama royalty are Dagombas.

Wow! Much has been exposed to us in the reign of this Asantehene, if we recall his stupendously revealing admission in a video on the Kumawuhene case in Manhyia.

Well, I now wonder what all those Ashantis always bashing Northerners as backward and primitive and inferior would be thinking. After all, we are all from a mixed bowl of vegetables!!

Bantama is the location where the original Palace of the Asantehene was built until it was burned down in 1874 & 1896, by the invading British Army. The current Palace of the Asantehene was built by the British Colonial Administration to provide accommodation for Asantehene Agyeman Prempeh, when he was repatriated from his exile in the Seychelles Islands. Therefore, Bantama, has a special place in Asante History and personally, I would like to see the Palace relocated back to its original place.
The current Asantehene is the 16th Occupant of the sacred 'Golden Stool' and previously 4 of his predecessors have been de-stooled (25% of the Occupants of the sacred 'Golden Stool').
Only Asantehene Osei Tutu (1701-1717) and Asantehene Opoku Ware (1720-1750), have ruled with absolute authority. A 'Council of Elders' has existed since the 18th Century, to ensure that the Asantehene cannot rule with absolute authority. The behaviour of the Asantehene is also subject to checks & balances of the 'Council of Elders'. For example, if the Asantehene commits an act that is not approved by the 'Council of Elders' he could be 'destooled' and forced to abdicate. Therefore, I suggest that this writer reports his concerns to the 'Council of Elders' instead of Ghanaweb. This Social Media Website is full of people who hate the Asante people and therefore, I am not sure what the writer is trying to achieve by openly criticising and making unproven accusations against the Asantehene? Personally, I would encourage him and others who have concerns about the behaviour of the King of Asante to report them to the 'Council of Elders'.
