Right now, I am even more concerned by the morbid desire of black women to have long flowing hair. That's what all of them have - something nature does not endow them with. Sometimes, when I see our sistas pulling strains of their long black hair that stray into their eyes like a Caucasian woman, I want to puke. How low can we descend - how low?

Why on earth would you want to look the people who have spent years oppressing you in the name of feeling accepted. Guess what you can bleach your skin but you can't bleach away your black features. I've heard white people say why do they bleach their skin only to look like a giraffe.

Europeans don't care if you're light or dark you will never be fully accepted into their society. Africa is the richest continent on the planet and we allow it to take out resources and place their own values, regulations, rules and standards on it not realizing you have the power to control your own economy because the world wants what you have.

Keep your black skin, love your black skin, you have what europeans wished they had Melanin. If you only knew how much you envied. To bleach your skin is to say God made a mistake and last time I check God makes no mistakes

Most of these blacks who bleach, do so because they have accepted the stereotyped criticism about blacks. They need to be educated and made to understand that you are not inferior simply because you are black. This article is the most stupid article I've ever read

I remember being in Canada as a teenager and discovering Ghanaian movies.I was so excited finally a piece of home. I quickly lost interest. I began to realised most of these actors were light skinned.

One youtuber said it best --- is the GhanaIan population predominatly mixed? To be fair I think over time we have changed that

A friend told me how her light skinned and mixed cousin were treat better than others by her grandmother. For that reason she had distant herself from her. Luckily she loved herself enough not to reach out for a bottle of skin brightening cream.

I have heard some well educated friends saying how they will only have children with white men so they can have mixed children. Seriously?

Correct me if I am wrong....The incident with those 2 African entertainers who stated they wanted only light skinned women in their music videos.

Like I said we are all partly to be blamed. We allow such people with shallow thinking to rule our media. And instead of standing up to them we dance to their music. What does that tell our young women?

Let's also get this right. I avoid areas that are mostly black populated not because I think I am better than my own people but because my chances of being attacked in such an area is higher. Its just a fact. Same way I will avoid some areas down south for fear of being attacked because of my skin colour.

I have found myself crossing the street anytime I saw a group of hooded young youths coming be them black or white. Has nothing to do with colour. Its self preservation.

Let's not forget the black rappers who glorify volience and treat women as sexual objects. I will never forget Snoop Dog showing up at an awards show with 2 women with dog collar and chain. I was so shocked.

So before we talk about Donald Trump and all that. Let's look at oursleves as a whole. Let's take a critical look at our media. Let's pay close attention to what people say around around children.
Let's give our children some pride. Being black is not a curse it a blessing. To hate your God given identity is an insult to the Creator.

Growing up in Canada I remember being proud of who I am. Its funny because in the mist of all these white faces I never felt ashamed or even thought my skin colour brought me down.

I kept and still kep my hair in its natural state. I wore no make....still don't. I took and still take great care of my skin. And whenever I can I wore something of that reminded me and them of my heritage I do.

My proudest moment as a black school girl was when a school mate of my told me how her parents had told her to stay away from black people and I had changed her thinking. When her parents visited I met them. We ended up talking as if they have known me for ages.

Being black is be beautiful. Being black is powerful. Above all it is an attitude. Love yourselves.
