  Quite logically, in light of the father's stellar academic accomplishments, we could indeed presume they inherited the father's intelligence.
  
  But please do not disregard another possibility. Biologically, our mitochondrial DNA only comes from the mother--a well-established scientific fact.
  
  Mitochondria are the power houses of the living cells. So if you reason that the brain, being such an energy hog, would be at the mercy of mitochondria, then it stands to reason that women contribute A LOT to brain function.
