Dr. Bokor,
Let us also speak by way of these comments.
We beg to strongly disagree, sir!
This Ford Expedition vehicle gift is an issue worth addressing, by the Executive.
1. A public official, least of all the leader of a state, ought not accept gifts from a foreign national who has private interest in projects the leader as the executive is responsible for.
2. And if they did, they ought to turn that gift over to the People transparently, through publication of facts and circumstances surrounding that "gift".
3. In that context, it ought not matter what preceded what.
4. The journalist has done his job, even though it may not be "professional" in some eyes. He has done the nation a favor.
5. If those are lies, fabrications, smears, etc., the President has more than 10 people, we trust, to provide a detailed response, of the actual facts so all the People can understand. (That is his responsibility).
6. The journalist is also a tax payer, income tax payer, and we know many of those leaders, including Mr. Mahama, do not pay income tax. But, the buck stops with the Executive, (i.e., Mr. Mahama), in appearance of corruption and violations of ethics, as well as the potential for abuse of office (i.e. corruption).
6. This view shows exactly where and why CPP's Ivor Greenstreet made a mistake by rushing that "non-issue" statement. It is an issue, and the "CPP Youth" ought to be commended for standing up. If it does not go anywhere, it does not mean (1) they did not do their job as conscious youths, or (2) that the issue is a "non-issue" of the kind that fits calmly in a "small tea cup".
Greetings, and thanks for the favor!

Mahama would be history now if Ghana was a sort of the US where Dr. Bokor is practicing his professional trade. He would have honorably laid down his tools as a president than to wait for a disgraceful impeachment for failing to follow the rightful protocol.
First of all the so called gift was was kept secret from the general public which makes it a crime, and it doesn't matter whether it was listed among the State pool of cars or not.
Secondly, our understanding is that taxes were paid on the car, which is an aberration on the standard practices and stipulations of the State Protocol Act.
Finally, the conflict of interest. The donor of the 'gift-bribe' is a Contractor who is known to be doing business with the State. Here again it is clear that the Civil Liberties granted the president by State is grossly violated since it prohibits such dishonorable behaviiors. President Mahama could have done himself a great deal of favor by rejecting the offer. I know Bokor knows this but his rented outfit could not much than this shameful tangent he has taken to fake a defence for his remunerators. Prof Lungu couldn't have schooled you any better.

Here is why: According to Cupach and Metts (1994), “apologies admit blame and seek atonement for untoward behavior” (p. 10). (Read Cupach, W. R., & Metts, S. (1994). Facework. Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage.).

I think the goats and cash received by our judges who were fired are sitting in the flagstaff house like the ford car gift. Hahaha, Ghana politics is going bunkers. A storm in a tea cup. I advise that henceforth all bribes taken by commentators, politicians and public servants are sent to the pool, and each should have one, for government use like the ford car. So no credible opposition party to sell itself to floating voters in Ghana? Too bad for poor Ghana! Nothing will change on 7 November, 2016.

Dr. Bokor, I know you live in the US and understand what the rule of law means. Yesterday, some New York city police officer have been indicted for accepting gifts etc. Your president, John Mahama is a foo for accepting a second hand gift meaning, he is like a prostitute who will never let a man with a cedi go away.
What did Mahama tell his ministers and government appointees? He said the they should never accept any gift worth more than 200 cedis so, why do you think Mahama should accept this car?
You do not make sense and you are one of the educated fools destroying our nation.

Why do some Ghanaians think everybody hate Prez Mahama? Why do you have to insult someone who has different opinion on an issue? Do we actually understand democracy we claimed to be practicing? He has laid down his points, if you have a different view of the issue, lay yours down, so the well meaning people of Ghana can made their own reservations. To adopt to insults means one has no reason(s) to give in support or against the issue at stake, hence the insults. In the history of this dear Nation of ours, where and when have anyone ever documented a kick-back or bribe after accepting same? If it is really true that this gift was documented, then let us allow this issue to rest. The Prez wasn't the one who gave the said Contractor the contract, he can therefore not accept and claim ownership of any thanks thereafter, no wonder he gave it to the state who gave out the contract. Please, stop the insults and let us share ideas and criticisms in a democratic manner. I have also spoken.
