  The woman should be saluted in the first place for taking that bold decision to carry a foetus in her womb for nine good months. You may have heard of abortion before, haven't you?

  I'm a father and proud to be one. Every day I also thank God for the two who brought me into this world. But I think we in Ghana are getting over our heads with this Mothers and Fathers day issue. So "President Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Fathers day." That is all sweet and dandy but where does it say this proclamation was for the whole world? We have been blindly sucked yet again into the grips of commercialization of 'imported' culture like these.
  
  Have you ever stopped to think of how many white handkerchiefs are sold in Ghana to celebrate mothers day? How about gifts for Valentines day? We could rewind to even Christmas which has lost its true meaning to mostly the exchange of gifts. You will be right if you argued that the buying and selling of all those gifts help our retailers and therefore our economy.
  
  Let us pause to realise that every day is Fathers and Mothers day and we need to celebrate our parents every single day.

  Suatra, you started your argument very well, but I'm afraid your concluding remark quite defeats it. See, it's either you endorse the celebration or you vote against it if you feel the declaration by President Johnson was not meant for the whole world. Or, if you feel those white handkerchiefs that are bought on this day take a toll on our economy. And could you please give us sufficient reasons why the celebration should be done daily and not annually?
