  I suggest that whoever wins power in November should create a ministry solely to be responsible for small scale mining. The harm that galamsey is causing our nation is so huge that it deserves a ministry to regularise and bring under control the operations in the sector. The damage to rivers, forests, farms, villages, farms, is unbelievable. The extent of damage is monumental. This ministry should have powers to deal with all illegal activities, the allocation of mining concessions , the restoration of damaged forests and lands, restoration and cleaning up of water bodies and rivers. The extent of pollution of rivers like pra, is such that the water is not fit for irrigation let alone drinking.
