Yet we have been bamboozled to believe that our main problem is spiritual and not political. So much so that the continent keep for spiritual solution.... wasting time here and there.

This is a well written piece and I can see and feel with the writer. It is very revealing, sad and encouraging at the same time.

I have lived and worked in Western Canada for a little over 15 years and what our sister has written is the bare truth. I am the most qualified and yet I am the lowest in terms of rank/position in my cartegory/level. Infact, I can write a book on this issue to educate our ignorant Africans who still want to come here for a greener pasture.

What is happening here is reflective of the book entitled Animal Farm. Lets educate ourselves and be well informed before coming here.

Most of all, lets not treat them the same when they come to Africa. For love and light is always stronger than darkness and hate. May the good Lord plant your feet on a higher ground and cause you to succeed in your future endeavours in racism-free environments.

Rita, I don't for once think modern day Africans in America feel we are exempt from racial injustice. We are victims, too, and you succinctly laid out instances where you were the victim of blatant racism but we refuse to cry foul for reasons that are steeped in the innate desire not to upset the good thing we have going on in America.

I have had similar experiences since I arrived here in 1987 but I would rather not dwell on them because doing that just compounds the misery. And there are thousands of Africans who can easily relate to our experiences but have kept their "ordeals" private.

Our only consolation is to cast our minds back to the place we call home. Despite the countless challenges, home, in this case, Ghana, is a wonderful place, a place that will shield us from the negativity of racism.

Folks, this is the very reason why Kwame Nkrumah wanted to liberate the black race from the racists race. Nkrumah after living in the west and having experience the racism and discrimination at first hand, he realised that the only way the black race can be truly emancipated was to unite and industrialise the continent. That is why in his so deep and endless foresight, he said the indepence of Ghana is meaningless, unless it is linked to the total liberation of the African continent. The CIA and the our local "Dadabas " who have no idea what it feels like to be hustling in the west like Nkrumah did, will gang up against Nkrumah and get rid of home. A good thing was killed. The black race attempt to free itself from the shackles of the colonial slave masters will be aborted prematurely.

How many Ghanaians knew that Kwame Nkrumah used to sell fresh fish in Harlem to make ends meet and used to preach at black churches in Philadelphia? After going through all the dehumanising experiences, he was so determined to liberate his people but the stooges who are so enameled by everything western, including drinking tea, were not on the same page with him and with their perverted cry for "democracy" , they brought every dream that Nkrumah had for the black race to a screeching halt.

From the reactions of readers, Rita's story seems to be representative of such things. Obviously, she is not the only one who has suffered that kind of discrimination. It will, therefore, be necessary to discuss and analyse the details. But she has not finished her story. Maybe we will have to wait to see what analytical conclusions she draws and her recommendations.

Those of us who settled in Europe also experience discrimination. I am personally interested in knowing if the type of discrimination we face here is different from that faced by blacks in the USA. The parameters are different. Europe as colonialists may have had longer to deal with Africans than USA but Europe has never had lots of Africans living with them in close contact. They have never had the institution of slavery the same way as USA had it. "House nigger" and "field nigger" had never applied in Europe.

It was Europeans who sold us to the Americas. They were also the ones most instrumental in the abolition of slavery. Racism in Europe took on a slightly different nature than that in the USA. That difference can still be seen today. But racial discrimination IS discrimination, no matter which form it takes.

I wish to read the concluding part of this piece before further comments.

Anyway, why should African-Americans be called Africans? They are not Africans any more than European-Americans are European. If we don't regard them as Europeans, why should we regard African-Americans as Africans? Is it because they didn't come on the Mayflower?

We have complained since the days of slavery and is high time rich African Americans emancipate Africa. The Whites should also return the stolen wealth; gold silver and blood diamonds.

Reparations for 400years of slavery should also be paid to the Hague and consequently brought to Africa. Let's STOP complaining and ACT.
