You see, you people are very quick to dismiss any suggestion that Akufo Addo is also corrupt, but that exactly what he is - because no African politician is "clean", especially someone who has been in government before. As a flag bearer of a political party like the NPP he is more than likely to be the next president whenever elections are coming up. So if it's really true that he received a car gift, then the only deference between him and Mahama is that he kept his whilst Mahama gave his to the state; in other words he is more corrupt than Mahama.

In U.S. of America, big Corporations do sponsor political parties for future deals. That is called politics.

Sad in Africa, everything is bribery. It is risk. If Nana could justify it, the giver of the Car lost in the game of chance. I am donating this to help your campaign - remember me when you come to power. Gift intended to influence, but the car was meant to help in the campaign.

It does not matter what any mortal does on the face of this earth, someone is bound to show great appreciation for a favor done which in turn will necessitate even more favors. If you do not receive a thank you for an act done, the second part becomes very difficult.

Contract (which has become like a computer virus filled program) has profit elements and sometimes substantial. Speed is of essence to rake in all the profit. A very legitimate tender which resultS in the award of a contract may still attract some form of gift to someone in Office from the Contract giving Office.

Just think of it, and we can never be hypocritical about this, so the Contractor simply walks in get his first installment, then second and then THE FINAL cheque and nothing to ANYBODY? Where on earth will this be a possibility fellow Ghanaians?

If the giver of the gift even intend to corrupt in some cases, what about the recipient? The Contractor who gave Dr Nana Akuffo Addo the car most certainly became personally known to Dr Nana Akuffo Addo. It is the same as bags of rice given to constituents prior to election meant to influence - ARE THEY PROSECUTABLE BRIBES? Who can receive gifts meant to influence and who cannot?

If a politician give a sizeable donation to Chiefs to influence to get their endorsements, is this bribery? Is he/she corrupting the Chiefs? What is now left in POLITICS?

If by our understanding a VEHICLE recorded in Ghana's Embassy loig book and bequeathed to Ghana qualifies for the "corruption tag" of the President then Dr Nana Akuffo Addo could hardly walk under the weight of his own CORRUPTION TAG with his gift which he personally registered to himself.

In my humble opinion, the U.S presidential aspirants do get sizeable gifts (donations) from corporate bodies. If not corruption in USA,it should not be corruption here in Ghana.

H.E Prez John Mahama has been at the helm of affairs for eight years now, four years as vice President and four years as the President. If he has not been stained irretrievably NPP sympathizers cannot force corruption tag. Nana has only promises and The President has proof of deeds. FOUR MORE YEARS!

My views about JDM and JJ are that for a gift to be a bribe, the one receiving it MUST of necessity benefit from it and that the giver must also be in a position to demand his pound of flesh.

For JDM, what personal benefit did he get out of the vehicle? NONE!!! If he had considered it a bribe, he could have just taken the money to buy it himself in Ghana or that the contractor could have bought it in Ghana where there would have been no trace. Readers might remember Kufour as having hidden a huge amount of money in a teacher's bank account to avoid detection. The reason the story broke out was that a journalist friend called him during the newspaper's editorial staff meeting and asked him where he got that huge amount of money from. The phone was on speaker phone so when he replied, thinking he was talking to his friend alone, he revealed that it was the then President Kufour who put the money there for safe keeping. The journalist friend even went further to say that if the teacher had not spent a pesewa from all his income to the day he will die, he could never have saved such an amount.

As for JJ, it will be a waste of time to portion corruption to him because what was Abacha going to gain from JJ, a contract? Secondly, JJ has been saying this for a long time. Like JDM, JJ also gave the money to Dr Obed Asamoah who later reported that the money got missing from under his bed.

However for Nana Akufo-Addo, the vehicle was registered in his name (maiden name included so that there will be no doubt whom the vehicle belongs to).

For Kufour, he admitted that he took. You remember NPP's then National Chairman saying that Kufour had taken over receiving and distribution of all the kickbacks at the Castle? Hmm hmm.

In the same way Mahama and Mills received so many gifts when they were candidates. Those gifts cannot be seen as bribes. However when you are sworn in as a president or vice president and somebody looking for business brings you a car and you accept and proceed to offer him contracts without competitive tendering then you have corrupted yourself . This is what Mahama has done. He has corrupted himself and gone against the very oath he took as a vice president. You can jump as high as you want you will never ever get anything to stick on Nana Addo. Tetevi or whatever you are you can go to the moon no one will believe you.
