I don't come from Kumawu but I know the time tested process of choosing and enstooling a chief. In Asante when a stool becomes vacant,its the prerogative of the queen mother who calls for applications (dwantoa) where by the appeal to occupy the stool is sent through a chief to be sent to the queen mother who is referred to as "OBAA PANIN" She is referred to as such since she is the custoduan of all the royals. She at an appointed time calls the OMAN(stool elders) and nominates one in consultation with the head of the family(ABUSUA PAINI). The nominee is presented to the Gyase Hene who in turn will inform and present him to the kronti Hene. The elders will go unto caucus (AGYINA TUO) and come back to say if the nominee is acceptable. And in rejecting there are legitimate reasons as to why the nominee is not acceptable according to Asante custom. 1 Is he a royal 2. Is he an ex convict on criminal charges 3. Has he ever been arrested for stealing 4. Has he corveted some one's wife out of which he has paid the traditional fees(AYE FARE) 5.Is he deformed? These are the basic traditional charges that can prevent a person from being a chief in Asante. If the first choice of the queen mother is rejected she has two other chances to nominate. If after all three chances are rejected on legitimate grounds, then the stool elders must nominate one in consultation with the queen mother since she can tell if the nomniee is a royal or not.Now in the case of Kumawu was these process not carried through? I recall watching a clip on YouTube on this issue of Barima Sarfo Twenwboa Kodua. What I gathered was that the current family linaeage has occupyed the stool for a long time so other family lineage must be given a chance to also rule. Its a fair and good idea but in Asante we don't have rotational system. From the clip the problem was solved with the shaking of hands and a pledge by swearing of the great oath of Otumfuor to abide by the resolution of the despute at Manhyia. When the nominee Dr. Yaw Sarfo was called all the stool elders said they had nothing against him. (Reference ASANTEHENE INVOLVES IN CORTUPTION ON YOUTUBE). So after all these why a rival chief who against custom was endtooled at dawn. Mean while all the stool items and the palace is in the custody of Barimah Dr Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua. Let there be peace in Kumawu.

You described the process so well but there are a few things you did not pay attention to, I am not always in agreement of Rockson because of some of the language he uses but you will not be offended if you know what we know about this issue. Some of us have been waiting patiently for Otumfuor to right the wrong and soon I myself will come out with things that might shock Asanteman and reveal the reason behind Otumfuor's trickery.
That said let me point out a few things about what happened @ Manshyia. Otumfuor has every right to cancel, forgive or to sweep aside the Ntamk3se3 that brought Kumawuman before him because it is his Oats after all, but two things to please be open minded and think about since you know the process of installing a king so well. After the Oath was addressed, he must allow the king makers to go back, finish the process, install a king, have him swear before Kumawuman then they come back to swear before Asanteman. But the king makers should not have to choose in front of Asanteman after been humiliated with bribery charges and not giving a chance to answer. Secondly, Otumfuor did not address the bribery charges the way it was supposed to be address based on Asanteman's rule established in 1935 by Asanteman.

I detest Mr. Adofo's use of language in describing the Queenmother as "less intelligent", but I admire his perseverance. Maybe, he has a case, hence his inflexible determination to see that the right thing is done for the benefit of Kumawu nation. Adofo, I don't think is seeking any personal gain from this. We all need justice for peace to prevail.

We are promoting the the rich Ghanaian Culture. Am an Asante by birth and a royal from the ekuona clan of Amoaman in the Atwima Nwabiagya District. Please let's sober up and think about tradition. In the process of choosing Barimah Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua,was there a breach in tradition?that's the question one must ask and then probe further. If you watch that clip one will see that whatever problem that existed was solved. And talking about the dedtoolment of the sub chifes, if a sub chief fails to heed the call of his over Lord, its grounds for dedtoolment. Well am cuntrebuting purely on traditional grounds and nothing. To me the root cause of the Kumawu chieftaincy dispute is because one faction of the three family tree having occupied the stool to the detriment of the other faction. To me without being predyjutial, is the the time tested tradition was not breached in choosing and enstooling Barimah Sarfo Tewneboa Kodua. And also chiefs are not chosen and enstooled at dawn. One thing he knows best is showing his ignorance. This guy has contributed absolutely NOTHING to Kumawuman; he is not a royal and DOES NOT have the interest of Kumawuman at heart as he profess. He is wasting away in Briton and his last hope was Koo Oduro getting installed as the Omanhene. Unfortunately that did not happen, hence the insults and blatant disrespect toward authority. He is a looser, PERIOD!
In brief, Dr. Yaw Sarfo was nominated by Kumawuhemaa and presented to Gyaasehene. On an appointed date and time, Dr. Yaw Sarfo was presented to the kingmakers, i.e. Krontihene (now demised), Ex-Akwamuhene, and Bodomasehene. This happened at Krontihene's house.
Ex-Aduanahene and his cronies invoked Asantehene's great oath that Dr. Yaw Sarfo was not qualified to occupy the stool. That halted peaceful process of installing Kumawuhene and was therefore referred to Manhyia Palace. That is how Asantehene and for that matter Asanteman got involved.
How things unfolded and the disgrace The Ex-Aduanahene, the kingmakers who tried to extort extra money from Kumawuhemaa, apart from taking their litigimate money for drinks "SIKASA'", and the so called "uncle" who said Doctor was "obo' fa, dadie fa" were humiliated.
Adofo should note: Nana Serwaa Amponsaa's refusal to grant the kingmakers demand for extra money and the subsequent exposure of them in the public DOES NOT mean she offered bribe. Take that to your so called lawyers and advisers and better still watch the video with them. Kumawuhemaa's bravery of exposing the extortionist is highly commendable and needs to be emulated by all Ghanaians.
Well I get news for Adofo, Koo Oduro and co. KUMAWUMAN IS MOVING FORWARD!
We only have ONE OCCUPANT OF THE PALACE AND FOR THAT MATTER, THE STOOL: BARIMA SARFO TWENEBOA KODUA.
There is no turning back; after all, we The People have learned a lesson from The Infamous YEATEASEM era and will not repeat that dreadful mistake.
