  You haven't really shown what lessons we can learn from the SA situation. You talk about not voting on tribal lines, but I don't see how that is a lesson from the SA elections. Ghanaians already know voting on tribal lines is not the best of things to do. The problem is that many of them can't help themselves doing so. SA elections won't help them change that attitude.
  
  There are other differences too.
  
  Voting based on race is not the same as voting based on tribe. SA has its tribal mix as well as racial mix. We have only tribal problems.
  
  The local level elections are far more important in SA than they are in Ghana. In fact, in Ghana, we don't have district level elections that produce district level executives reflecting the voting pattern in the district. The President appoints DCEs for all districts from his party even for districts where his party didn't win. The district assemblies don't have the power to apply policies of the majority party in the assembly. That is why some people are calling for the election of DCEs. Then we can have district executives based on the voting in each district.
  
  22 years of our current democracy have shown that no party can take any block of voters for granted to stay on in power. NDC cannot depend on the Ewe and Northern vote to stay in power until the second coming of Jesus. NPP can also not depend on the Akan vote for the same purpose.
  
  So, our problems are different from those of South Africa. The only likeness is the black man's penchant for corruption and showing off with money and power at the expense of the chatelling masses.
  
  If anybody in Ghana will learn a lesson from the SA district elections, it is the major political parties which should learn not to take any block vote for granted. But then, they've known this all along...

I don't really get the gist of your comments because they're replete with contradictions. If Ghanaians know "everything" already and are not applying it then it is safe to say that they don't know a thing or value of whatever lesson they supposedly know. Am not sure you really understand what the writer is saying.
