  Before Rawlings became the president of Ghana, most of the enterprises were owned by Akans like Fantes, Sefwis, Kwahus, Nzemas, Wassaws, Bonos, Akyems and Asantes, while few were owned by Ewes. As soon as PNDC came to power, they seized all the enterprises owned by the Akans but allowed the enterprises of Ewes to flourish and even gave the owners loans to improve on their enterprises. If an Akan occupied a very vital position, the PNDC quickly replaced him with an Ewe. If an Akan had huge amounts of money in the banks, the PNDC government seized it; and if an Akan had a very nice property like a house or car, the PNDC seized. They just wanted to make EWES the LORDS of Ghana. That is the reason why, even as of now, most government institutions are managed by Ewes.
