With the current crop of clueless thieves in charge, that money will be stolen and deposited in bank accounts overseas.
I am sure you are old enough to remember Christina Boateng, Rose Hart, Alice Anum, Bob Kotei Mike Ahey, Bashiru, Lawson and Okantey, that great Ghanaian sprint quartet.
Later there were the Owusus and ECO Addys. They were all unearthed through our inter-Schools and colleges sports system.
We even had boxers that won medals at the Commonwealth and Olympics levels. The reason why "Ghana sports" is dead is because we have towel and dollar thieves in charge, people who have only their own selfish interest at heart. Who knows how much of the $3m that was illegally carried on board an aircraft to Brazil actually reached the players?
What we need is a concerted effort to rid Ghana of these rogues and begin to rebuild our nation!

Ghanaian government does not invest in the Olympics so they cannot harvest where they have not sown. In the period of the Congo crisis in 1960s, we had one Belgium mercenary, Jean Scramme who was willing to be hired to fight anywhere in the world if the money was good. Perhaps we need Mercenary Athletes in Ghana to win medals as alluded to by Auntie Lizzie. After all, the UK, USA, Netherlands, and the Emirates are all doing it. Good article, Lizzie.
