  Very sad. I completed in 2010. We were fortunate to meet the 4 years system, so recruitment wasn't difficult at all. I remember I had two appointment letters so I chose one. In my school for instance, they recruited 15 teachers at a go. Very sad. Some of s go to UEW and UCC to do education because, we believe there are readily available jobs. So sad!

  i agree with you that graduates shd be employed but disagree when u said performance dwindled bcs gov't failed to employ fresh brains.if u teach with ur fresh brain and the kids do not learn what can u do? come again

  This is very sad and pathetic. What I find very disgusting is the modalities used by GES in the recent recruitment. I still cannot comprehend why GES will issue a directive way back 2013 to unprofessional teachers in the sector to acquire education certificate or vacate their post but will recruit those who have no education in the recent recruitment exercise. It's only in Ghana that this will happen. Pls president Manama wake up!

  Why will a country employ untrained n SHS leavers under YEA to teach in public schools when the country has more than enough trained teachers from UEW and UCC to be employed under that agency in times of the strich employment ban?...GES leaders have kept mute on this development and seem not to bother one bit yet,they will blame teachers for poor pupils examination performances..No professional agency will employ untrained professional but GES,MOE and government of Ghana will do so making teaching and unprofessional call for study...so useless to attend Educational university now

  Mr. President will always tell us to create jobs for ourselves. Your excellency, we did not learn any entrepreneurial skills. We were trained as professional teachers to help train students to realise their full potential and to expand their own personal limits. Some graduate friends from UEW took student loan and their debts are now amounting to Gh6000. day in day out, unemployed professional teachers are thinking about how to clear this debt from their heads. very sad.

  There is no smarter way to success than receiving a long period of professional training. Because our leaders have no shame for failing to support the teaming graduate teachers after years of hustling to reach the top, they tell us to be smart. In effect, they are alerting us to engage in clandestine activities to become rich overnight. That's the meaning of smartness to a black man.
  If that is what they want, fine! I don't need to remind those in authority that, the piling up of trained unemployed teachers is a timed bomb. Again, they shouldn't think that terrorism is far from Ghana, since the higher minds of these unemployed youth are good recipes for disaster.
  If the state fails to come to our aid, we might be tempted to respond to any bait presented to us from wherever. The humiliation is enough, and it's high time we advised ourselves should the state fail to heed to our plea. We are not begging for free financial assistance from government. No! All that we are asking for is employment, which will be beneficial to the state in the long run.

  The basic rationale behind going to university of education and UCC to read education In particular is to be absorbed as a teacher or join GES after completion.....and after our completion, GES publicly employed people with no education background to go to the classroom and teach leaving people who have toiled to read education in various subject areas....
  
  Mr. President please don't blame the teachers nor the students for abysmal performance but rather blame GES and MOE. They r indeed the cause of our educational downfall..
  
  Under no circumstance will Ghana Health Service employ teachers to work at the health centres in case there are vacancies at the hospitals and clinics but GHANA Education Service has succeeded in employing people who never read education to go and teach thinking that teaching is just going to the classroom and pouring out contents to learners.GES-an institution that should know better when it comes to education...
  
  What explanation will they give to employing people who never did geography in the university not even in senior high to go and teach geography in the senior high schools.. Are they expecting good results??????

  This is on point. GES needs qualified teachers. Yet the government plays politics with this by recruiting thousands of "pupil teachers" all in bid to look good before the populace. The outcome is there for all to see.

  Its really sad how people politicise everything . I believe if you share the same sentiment with the writer you wil applaud him and not chastise him as some are doing. If what can become of you after going through a ridiculous and tedious exercises all in the persueant of degrees, diplomas and certificates and come home as a dependants on parents and guardians then how useful it is. Education is believed to be the backbone of every country likewise it's development resides on the shoulders of the youth. Now the youths are denied of education due to high cost involve and the few that are fortunate to access are unemployed. I cry for my country Ghana because it's has no hope. I share your plight and I salute you a proud "unique member" for your humble plead and pray it will be granted due audience by the appropriate Offices. I say bravooo bro

Education is simply about the encounter between the teacher and the students. studentship is always booming meanwhile teachers are in their decline.
