What I will not accept is your illogical justification of the illogical diatribes of a deeply corrupt man masquerading as a reverend. Professor Martey may have headed the Presbyterian church but he certainly is not the Presbyterian church nor have his actions and pronouncements been worthy of a man of his 'status'. Those who wish to defend him must understand that many more of us understand the workings of principle and he has never been a principled man nor does he abide by any strong value system based on morals or scruples. He has always been a leaf blown where the wind pleases, a fairweather 'friend' whose only intent is to be on the winning side. This I cannot accept. There is nothing wrong with speaking on national issues nor is there anything wrong with mounting the political platform but you cannot eat your cake and have it. The Presbyterian church is not a political organisation and Martey is not their flagbearer. Thankfully, he has been retired and can fully engage in the enterprise he so loves.
So Nana Yaw Osei, be an apologist if you wish, but critical minds have no use for your pathetic attempt to save face for a man who deserves none.

I appreciate your objectivity Esi, and on any good day I would have given you no such cause to disagree with my latter opinions but I have little choice. I have no bone to pick with Nana Yaw Osei. But I also have a deep dislike for characters of his sort who misapply their new-found intellectual brawn to bully us all into accepting the unacceptable. That is called intellectual dishonesty and I know it well. Brilliant academic as Nana Yaw is, his whole piece attempts to justify and whitewash Martey when the opposite is true and Calvinism has been left the unfair victim. There are palpable inconsistencies in the conduct and pronouncements of Professor Martey and any objective student of our recent national political history will find several examples. To be inconsistent is to be untrustworthy and to be untrustworthy is to be a man whose word counts for nothing. Surely that cannot be Calvinism's creed can it? ESI, I may not have proof to condemn professor Martey as corrupt and I apologize for calling him so but I'm not stupid. Perhaps you should find the full transcript of his recent press conference only a couple of days ago as a case in point. Analyze his pronouncements and you'll find one inconsistency after the other especially where it even concerns the bedrock of the faith he professes and led his flock in. I have nothing personal against Nana Yaw or the professor for that matter. I only wish to expose a wolf in sheep's cassock because i do not want it said or established that this man and his character were the metric by which society once lived in Ghana. He cannot be the standard my son should be proud of living by and I will not stand idly by while Nana Yaw and his big PhD English seek to glorify and establish him as such while entreating the rest of us to follow suit. If this is what Calvinism stands for then I can assure you that it is not Presbyterian and if it is not then I can confidently tell you that professor Martey was never a Presbyterian and he has never represented the Presbyterian church.
N.B. For decency's sake I have refrained from enumerating a number of very embarrassing events attributed to the Reverend because of the very concern you raise ESI. But tell me ESI, which man of any repute, not to talk of a man of 'God', calls a press conference, makes a bold and categorical accusation and yet fails to name the characters he so brazenly accuses? What man of God, if he understands and indeed believes in the gospel of Jesus Christ, would advocate a partial application of same? A man without principle, especially a man in authority, is a cancerous growth in society's heart, mind and lungs; he is the death of it.

It's good for Martey to protest for and on behalf of Ghanaians the corrupt practices going in government but the big question is where was Martey when the seeds of corruption were being down in the days of president John agyekum kuffour? Where is Martey when corruption is pervading the entire fabric of the Ghanaian society? Or he has been content with tithes and collections made filthy money? As a true and fearless anti corruption crusader Martey should have been bold to mention the party and name the individual involved in his alleged bribery. Martey has disgraced himself, his family and the Presbyterian church which he led. Sorry don't prance where angels fear to tread.

Perhaps you and I should encourage Prof to prove him a liar on all the other counts as well don't you think?
For instance, could we urge the good professor to provide us with the date, day and time the 'alleged' 'attempted' bribery incident took place plus....is it possible for him to clear the air about which political party officials actually offered the $100K and the V8 and the house....
And while we're at it the venerable professor might help us all to sleep easy by openly naming and shaming the officials in his characteristic bold, fearless and non-partisan manner.
