It's not just a matter of criticism. People who criticize must do so for pure reasons and the criticism must be valid. In principle anybody can criticize govt and public officials. The fact that a person is a reverend minister or industrialist or employer do not necessarily mean that any criticism that comes fom their mouths is valid. Even criticisms too can be criticized. The thing must be an ongoing public debate.
Of late, our reverend ministers have not shown themselves to be any good critics of government. We don't have to insult them but just point out where they've gone wrong with their critiques.

Criticism in politics Is a professional hasard and any one who doesn't want to be criticized should stay away from politics period! The only reason why I have my reason to criticize is because you have put yourself available to manage my funds and anytime that I feel like I am not getting my fair share or I think you are putting too much of the meet in your mouth, I have the right to question you. I have the right to ask you to open your mouth for me to see if it is not filled with our meat. From the this government is behaving, Ism afraid they are putting the peace in this country in jeopardy and I would not be surprised if they continue to maintain themselves and the statu-quo continues Ghana is heading towards one of the ugliest upheavals in the history of Africa.

The one thing that is even more dangerous than hate is hypocrisy and we seem to not know and understand its impact on communities. There has not been a single article written in Ghana against an NDC or NPP government that has not done damage to the nation rather than the good some pretend such articles bring to readers.
For now I am not going to point out the flaws of this article but I am going to focus on acts of hypocrisy and linkages to societal damage. Ghana's 1966 coup came about not because of love for Ghana but because of a bunch of hypocrites who saw nothing wrong with looking the other way while their friends, family, co-conspirators and tribal kinfolks steal, mismanage even as they talk about the very misdeeds by those from other tribes and or political party. Ghana did not fight to gain its independence from the British because we needed to replace British discriminatory and racists mindset with homegrown clowns who felt ordained by God to lord over the rest of Ghana. Yet the problem with Nkrumah's detractors started on that very note from day one. So before anyone of us can get up and talk ill of someone it may be more human and moral for that person to ask what is it they see wrong with someone or some party they do not see with their own preferred party or hero?
We are where we are in Ghana because stealing, mismanagement and discriminatory practices based on party and tribe are acceptable norms. So where and when did we get the moral standing to question what the NDC government is doing? Where was the demigod Mensa Otabil when Kufour and the NPP spent over US$100 million on Ghana@50 when the poor were dying for lack of medical care? Being a hypocrite in Ghana has become fashionable; being wise and or learning to gain wisdom continue to elude most of us in Ghana.

As much as I agreed with the writer's motive of constructive criticism of the government by the pastors, where the criticism takes place is very paramount to our tensed political atmosphere. Taking your criticism to the Pulpits , makes you a subject to be discussed and abused by the government and even your own congregation. I think they are free to criticize but not at the Pulpits where salvation of members and other religious responsibilities are paramount.

James ANNAN, you don't seem to understand why these very pastors are always being criticized by the NDC communicators. Nobody is saying pastors should not criticize govt. Pastors should feel free and do their Godly assignment by genuinely and constructively critiquing govt. But we don't want pastors who for hate of the governing party would want to do anything to project the opposition and destroy the image of ruling party. Judging from your style of writing one can tell where in the political devide you belong. The truth about these pastors is that, they are political and business minded than what they portray themselves to be. They are very cunning in their actions and it's very clear they have an agenda to execute in favour of one party and against the other party. ANNAN if you take away the Methodist/NPP lense you will who these pastors you mentioned are.
