Did they not oppose independence,Volta dam, industrialization, even education,They are followers ,so you should be bemoaning the CPP and its surrogate the NDC about losing the plot. Sure we need to get the 3rd force of THINKERS to come up and put your great ideas into reality

  "Why is it that Ghanaian political leaders are so lazy or incapable of thinking that far ahead?" The problem with our leaders is neither laziness nor incapability. It is wickedness. It is this wickedness which "motivates" our leaders to prescribe short term solutions to long term problems without adequate preparation for long term solutions, believing,falsely, that by the time the problem escalates, they would be dead and gone. Wickedness prevents our leaders from thinking and planning for the next generation.

  We are where we are in Ghana because of today's NPP and yesterday's forefathers of the NPP. Anyone with an ounce of common sense, analytical skills and a knack for historical perspective would know that all the nations who took up development during the Nkrumah era were led by dictators; none were democratic. They brought their respective nations to the enviable development state while engaged in unilateral decision without consultation of others neither did they roll over because of agitators of the tribal kind. The fact is that there were more killings and imprisonment in most of those nations than Ghana while development took off because tribal bullshit that could hamper progress was not tolerated.
  
  In Ghana we chose tribal preferences over the common good and chose self proclaiming God ordained leaders from godforsaken places over Nkrumah's brand of politics and have been stuck since. In the end the choices left in Ghana and for Ghanaians is the sham of an intellectual NPP party steep in thievery, mismanagement and covering up both electronic and paper trails and an NDC party full of street level thieves who could not give a damn if we call them names just as long as they get to steal without recourse from society. The NPP, a party with the lowest moral compass of any presumed intellectual group, lowered the bar on what is corruption with its demigod Kufour reminding Ghanaians that we cannot do much with the sins of biblical Adam and Eve thereby opening up the floodgates for self enrichment trends and massive giveaways of national assets to party cronies. Anyone who would not call out the NPP or UP/UGCC/Dumbo members even as the nation blindly disbarred and by extension disband the CPP cannot sit in judgment of events in Ghana neither should there be complaints about lack of development. We were simply fooled to choose between a delusional democracy and development under Nkrumah era dictatorship and everyone knows what we chose; let us live with the fruits of our decision.
