She lost any respect that she had. She is a pigheaded idiot. Going forward, she will never ever be invited to any event. She will be ostracise and ignored for her bad and intemperate behaviour. She no fine too.

You are A BIG PIG,a MORON Mr."A.A A..A I DO", a semi-literate buffoon who doesn't know the worth and the ideals of this precious Ghanaian intellectual. Who are you to distort Madam Ama Ata Aidoo's name and use it as a pseudo? Who are you to insult this lady on Ghanaweb ? Professor Awonnoor Williams who was HER colleague at the University of Cape Coast would have wept bitterly on reading such a dirty comment from such a stupid ass-hole nincompoop like you !! You must try to think twice, if you have sufficient brains to do that, before insulting so highly respected gems of the calibre of Mama Ama Ata Aidoo !! Ofui !!

l beg, the woman has disgraced herself and the numerous young ladies over there looking up to her. She has not brought any disgrace to the organizers but herself and family. l am sorry, even the neophytes would not misconduct themselves in this way. lt is a big shame, she has no regard for humility and humanity.

Your reasoning betrays your level of education and the low level of your intellect,Kwame. If you were well educated you would have understood the message Ama Ata Aidoo is sending through the reaction she had.If you are capable of doing so ( but I bet you are not), then read her plays and her short stories, and you will (perhaps) understand why she reacted the way she did.

Wow! Koku Amagafio, ls your reply a reflection of your high level of education or intellect? l guess not, else you have a long way to go with the several grammatical flaws you assembled in this rather ridiculous narratives. Let me highlight only one. lf you were well educated, you would have understood the message Ama Ata Aidoo is sending ....lt is a wrong grammar. NB This is supposed to have been a Conditional Sentence type2. Your sentence should have been: If you were well educated, you would understand the message. However if it were type3, then it should be: lf you had had a good education, you would have understood the message. l don't even want to bother myself with the porous nature of 'the message Ama Ata Aidoo is sending through the reaction she did'. Take a close look at your If Clause and your Result Clause well, right? Let me reserve the rest for the next day.

Nice article however you missed the point. All the Mills and Kufours would not depart a ceremony just because their names were spelt wrong. You may admire her and of course she is a legend however what she taught the youth that day was a good lesson of how one should show arrogance. This is a dent in her distinguished career.

Wish I heard the views of others on this issue. The four here think she overdid it. Perhaps they're right(?). She should surely react to the misspelling of her rather well-known name and rant about it. But to just walk away from the function and leave the young ones gathered to see and listen to her? It was not their fault!
Ama Ata Aidoo is one of our few naturally gifted writers. We used to admire her a long time ago. Her best creative years are behind her but she has a lot to impart especially to the young. Age hasn't mellowed her. Has it rather made her into a petulant and fussy old dame???

I spell my Atta with double T. Ghanaians have become educated uneducated because they have lost it all when it comes to paying attention to detail with regard to spelling, grammar, punctuation, among others. I would not have reacted the way Ama Ata Aidoo did but that is me and that is her. We are different. She is not arrogant. She wanted to make a point. My first name Kwesi has been misspelt two times as KWASI on my passport! What the hell are the dunces at passport office! Is it not nauseating, frustrating, and embarrassing? Ghana's education has gone to the dogs. The author, Kwasi Ansu Kyeremeh was my senior by one year at Komenda Teacher Training College.Rawlings' revolution bastardized Ghana's education when we went for JSS and SSS in 1986 without engaging stakeholders and we are reaping the hellish effects of that maelstrom. We need curriculum reform and stop politicizing education. The mantra should be quality not quantity.

I have been living in the country for 15 years. Ghanaians don't have eyes for detail. They do things in bulk, and hurriedly. In ALL aspects. I currently teach French, a language of detail, with all its accents et co. I have a hard time understanding why Ghanaian kids just can't PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL. From artisans to workers, everyone does everything anyone. They just want to get it over and done with, completely don't care about how it is done.
