You kept going on and on about privatisation . But the ECG is not being privatised. More efficient management is to be introduced through PSP. The ECG will remain government owned. Some people are arguing that if the monies owed the ECG by government are paid it, it will suddenly operate efficiently. No, it will not. The staff in place are simply not fit for the modern day tasks required by a company like the ECG. Let's stop playing politics with this exercise so that the ECG is given a new lease of life.

Fact it, most people do not care to pay attention to matters that truly matter. They go easily for the bells and whistles.
Along the litany of problems identified in this essay, nothing is more important than the Ghana oil contracts.
Fact is, Ghana has lost over $6 billion the last 5 years alone from oil revenues never received because Ghana continues to use the same fraudulent contract system the NPP left behind.
Now, Kofi Koranteng is parading the name of Paa Kwesi Nduom:
READ: "...(2) We are not making more than 20% from our oil exploration. (Dr Nduom has forcefully argued that if the oil revenue cannot liberate this economy, it must remain underground until such a time that we have the technical know-how to extract the oil ourselves so we can have 100% revenue.)..."
What exactly does that mean?
How is "oil revenue" going to "liberate this economy" when Nduom himself has repeatedly failed to respond to overtures by the team that has uncovered the 81% loss?
What the hell is are they doing about it, right now.
Nduom has been invited to many workshops and conferences by the Fair-Trade Oil Share Ghana (FTOS-Gh) Campaign over the last 2 years and counting.
But, it is Nduom who has never cared.
He never replied to numerous messages, letters, and other overtures.
So, what gives, Kofi Koranteng?
Is Nduom serious or just all talk, unless it betters his bottom-line?

Africans penchant for blaming colonialism and imperialism for their economic deprivation is totally misdirected and in fact obtuse. Instead of looking at ourselves to determine what is wrong with us, we blame others, forgetting that it takes two to tango.
Africans are the only race that fought among themselves, captured their own people and sold them as slaves to other race - Arabs and Europeans. Slave trade began on the shores of west coast of Africa. We sold our own people for useless things like mirrors, rum, salt and gunpowder. While other races in Asia and elsewhere fought battles to repel Arabs and European slave traders, we Africans welcomed them with open arms and captured our own people and sold them.
Is it any wonder that JJ Rawlings sold over 300 state-owned enterprises to mainly foreigners in total exclusion of Ghanaians who had the means to buy them. Go to every corporate boardroom in Ghana today, and will find white and yellow faces all over - British, French, Lebanese, Syrians and some Chinese so to speak. The tragedy is that taking his instructions from the IMF, JJ Rawlings devalued the cedi first before selling these companies, in effect these blood suckers paid next to nothing for what Dr. Kwame Nkrumah had painstakingly built for Ghana's development - 300 state-owned enterprises were handed "free" to foreigners without anyone betting an eye. Despite the sale of Nkrumah's over 300 state-owned enterprises, NPP complained that the Consolidated Account (Ghana's Treasury) was empty when it power in 2000. So where did the money go? Asem beba dabi!!!
Fast forward to the duplicitous Kufuor government. Why did the perfidious JA Kufuor sell Ashanti Goldfields Ltd. to Anglogold in 2003? This perennial thief claims Ashanti Goldfields Ltd. was in financial distress as a result of bad hedging practices. Is it the first time Ashanti Goldfields Ltd. had been in financial distress? Check the records and you will find that the company had been in distress in so many times. In 1968/69 during NLC regime under Gen. Ankrah, the low gold prices almost forced Ashanti Goldfields Ltd. to go under, and Gen Ankrah's military government not particularly endowed with business acumen, searched the globe and found investors to bail out Ashanti. Fast forward to 1984/85, Ashanti was debt ridden and ready to go under until JJ Rawlings went to the IMF to borrow $114 million to rescue Ashanti. JJ Rawlings during the same time, restructured the management of Ashanti Goldfields Ltd. and made Sam Jonah the first Ghanaian CEO of Ashanti. Kudos to JJ.
The fact is, Ashanti Goldfields Ltd. was the main foreign exchange earner for our nation and why JA Kufuor must sell this Ghanaian hairloom is beyond anyone's imagination, but he did it and went to Buckingham Palace to have tea with the Queen for his reward, and his accomplish Sam Jonah was knighted for his troubles. Kufuor also sat in his office and singularly negotiated the sale of Ghana Telecom and Ghana Airways and sent these deal to his NPP dominated Parliament to approve them. Asem beba dabi!!!
