Felix Houphouet-Boigny was a farmer but he did a good job in Ivory Coast.
What we want however, is someone telling the truth about who he is; about a thorny issue that needs clarification.

When you hold a blue paper, don't brandish it as white, and when the issue stimulates too much public contention/opinion, oblige to do the minimum to address the matter so it goes to rest. That is called, being courteous to civility, and to Ghanaians in general who would stay in line for hours to vote for you.

If he becomes president - which I believe he will not - questions around this issue will be thrown to him anytime he visits the West. People are preparing for that. Won't you feel disturbed about the embarrassment?

Akufo-Addo has practiced law in Ghana and won cases, I mean, high profile cases in the Supreme Court of Ghana and won. Check Tuffuor vs. Attorney General. This man rose to become Ghana's Attorney General, and also the head of Ghana Bar Association must be respected.

Bokor cannot claim to be the only wise person in the whole country. It is pure buffoonery and utmost obtuse for an educated idiot, Bokor, to impugn the character of one of Ghana's glorious sons. All that matters is that Akufo-Addo practiced law in Ghana's Supreme Court, and if the Supreme Court permitted him to practice law before the learned judges, who is Bokor to question his credentials.

Enough of the nonsense!!!

Borkor is not arguing that Akufo-Addo is not a good lawyer. He is arguing that there's something fishy about the manner in which he became a lawyer in Ghana. Why shouldn't we all be interested in knowing the truth and the truth alone?

A man can fail his law exams and still go on to become a brilliant amateur legal advisor. But he is still not a qualified lawyer. Failed medical students also become brilliant quack doctors.

As for me I want the truth in this matter to come out. The same goes for the academic qualifications of Alabi and Armartey of upsa.

Let us always seek for the truth and not take a stand until we arrive at that truth.

Bokor cannot be credible as long as he wears his partisan politics on his sleeves - he is actually dangerous and reckless to say the least. Akufo-Addo not only won high profile cases, he was appointed Ghana's Attorney General and as a result became the substantive head of Ghana Bar Association. Are you saying to me, my friend, that he achieved this feat under false pretense, and with no one daring to ask questions. What country do we live in, my friend? How about those lawyers on the opposite side in the high profile cases who lost against him? How could they take defeat without alerting Ghana Bar Association to investigate his fraudulent credentials? Does it make sense to you, my friend, that the man Akufo-Addo is able to fool the learned Justices in Ghana's Supreme Court without a blink of an eye? Akufo-Addo may be a bona fide qualified lawyer but not because of the reasons you cited above. He could have deceived us all. I am not saying that this is a case in which he deceived us all, but it is fully possible that he did. The fact that nobody ever challenged him all this while is not, in itself, proof of his authenticity. The proof thereof should be established elsewhere, not by the successes he chalked in court. That is just for the sake of argument.

I am not saying that the man is not qualified. As for me, I suspend judgement on the issue until I see more conclusive proof to convince me either way. That is why I will never argue anywhere that Akufo-Addo is not a qualified lawyer. I do not have the evidence for that.

Yes, I also know Bokor is a partisan hack and I personally detest his persistent attacks on the person of Akufo-Addo. That is why I don't often read his articles. He may have concocted all this as part of his agenda against Akufo-Addo. But then, there can also be some truth in what he's saying. The fact that Akufo-Addo is such a high profile person with solid achievements under his belt does not preclude his having some skeletons in his closet.

Let us be critical of our leaders and not just believe everything being said about them - not the lies, not the glorifications.

So the jury is still out there.

In the court of law, litigants are apt to use legal arguments to win the case including objections and disqualification of the counsel of the other side. That Akufo-Addo is a high profile lawyer in Ghana's legal system is without question, and a good one for that matter. It's on record that he won many high profile cases when he was active practicing.

Here are the corollaries of my position:
1) Prior to becoming Ghana's Attorney General, Akufo-Addo was vetted by a Parliamentary Committee charged with full legislative authority to investigate a nominee's background and credentials. He succeeded in becoming Ghana's Attorney General. 2) Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC) would also have the opportunity to check his background and credential as it does for all aspiring Presidential candidates. 3) The Justices of Ghana's Supreme Court and the Bar Association issued him a licence to practice as a lawyer in the Republic of Ghana and appeared before the Justices of the Supreme Court to argue his numerous cases in which he was counsel.

My question to you, KA my friend, is this: Do you trust Ghanaian institutions - such as the Parliament, Judiciary, Ghana Bar Association etc. or you trust Bokor?

I grant you that observation, and thought you have already taken sides - meaning on the preponderance of evidence I have given you, you still want to see Akufo-Addo's certificate before believing he is qualified to practice law. You know that won't happen today or tomorrow. So what do you do my friend? Are you going to look at one of the illustrious Ghanaian men as fake, erring on the side of Bokor? I will take the high road and err on the side of Ghanaian institutions, because as the saying goes, Akufo-Addo can fool some people some of the time, but cannot fool the people all the time.
