If you appoint a novice as IGP you don't expect a sterling performance. The IGP joined the main stream policing in 1998, as a Superintendent from the BNI. Never walked a beat, manned a station or laid a cape. Truth must be said that many junior police officers acquired degrees from the universities without prior notification to the police administration, and hence the official refusal to recognise such qualifications. Granted, but does the police service need the services of raw graduates to a point of mass recruitmebt? The answer is a big NO. For if there was the need, looking internally should be the first option. The worst is yet to come

I concur on your claim of lack of notification. Truth must be told that should a police personnel get to rank of chief inspector and is mandated to take up a degree program, it is as deemed needful to police work and therefore appropriately sanctioned by Police Administration. You can't go and do economics and expect to be drafted into mttu or cid. You had rather psychology, sociology, law, etc. And I wish to notify that senior police officers start from ASP so the graduates may likely start so. Just a note.

Ridiculous and reckless comments: where in democratically in nation that law allow police continuously setting up road barriers checking drivers lincences.Itnis only Ghana because citizenry don't boat the law, abuses of law and neglect of laws.Police should protect citizens but not standing on the road checking lincences leaving the core policing nothing. If IGP put all the recourses on road checking only where will be the resource combating crime. And for that reason if IGP direct road policing , he is right.Therenis other branch of police that responsible for checking driver's lincences.why do we panic on police halt to road check simply people do not obey they law, even if a citizenry sees someone commuting a crime ,citizenry will standby watching.what sort of nation do we live in and if we don't change our mind no matter who comes to power the nation will still remain the same

The IGP may be right in banning motor checks but very wrong in recruiting fresh graduate to occupy the top post, perhaps to lead those experience graduates that are already in the service
