Thank you so much for sharing this insightful piece on Dr Aggrey with us. Ghana is currently experiencing a serious dearth of applied knowledge: we have departments of agriculture in all our 3 state universities, manned by 'eminent' professors and doctoral degree holders in agricultural sciences but we are not self sufficient in basic food production- we actually import chicken as well as spending a huge chunk of our foreign exchange on importing rice!
The same phenomenon applies to all the faculties of our universities: we rely on foreigners to build our roads, bridges and railways whilst our civil and other engineers bask in their offices and lecture theatres in their suits and ties regurgitating otiose theoretical paradigms.
It's about time we wake up and make our educational system relevant to our daily needs as exemplified by Dr Aggrey!
