Interesting history but why do the people of the northern parts of the region want a separate region?
Will they get it?
THESE ARE THE IMPORTANT THINGS WE WANT TO LEARN AND KNOW.KEEP ON WRITING SUCH PIECES OF WRITE UPS TO EDUCATE GHANA
Very interesting and enlightening. A few maps or diagrams would have helped a lot, but still well done and thanks for history we all should know but don't.
Google British Togoland or Trans Volta Togoland
Even the eastern parts of Gonjaland were in TVT. The Western part of Gonjaland, where Mahama's father came from, was part of the Northern Territories which were British protectorate.

I read this piece on modernghana some two or three days ago. I simply loved it.

Thanks to the writer. Do you have more information on Ghana. Please share it with us.
oh yes. i read the article with much joy. i have been asking this question and the only answer is: volta is the last region to be created. but now i know. thanks for reading whatever come my way.
Excellent article. This is something we need to read to educate us in the past, not the politics of lies. God bless you. Keep it up.
Mistake it is not pndcl who created greater region check your files well.
you are right my brother it was the S M C of Col KUTU ACHEMPONG who created the G. ACCRA Region.not pndc.
A brilliant piece of history. That's incredibly awesome.
Bunch of bull. Nkrumah created BA. No. 9 is a derogatory term coined for the ewes of the voltage region. That is why it never changes. But for the Ashanti they were brave people. Adu Boatene was the problem.
well, another animal from the animal farm

I also put. this same question to my Ewe Teacher in the early 70's and Miss Lucy told me it is because they were the number or 9th Region to he created by the government.
I stand for correction though.
Kpando was not part of Gold Coast
I was told at KNUST that Ewes eat cats and the label on EVEREDY BATTERY has a number 9 with a cat jumping through the 9. That is why people call Ewes number 9
But it is the entire region that is called Number 9, not Ewes. And the region is not made up of only Ewes. There are many other tribes in the region.
That reason cannot be correct.
History is always lmportant.hence one can not explain the present without understanding the past.very educative and interesting history.even number 09 is an important number to be called.
