Ewe lecturers are biased towards Akan Students. I know a lot of people who had third class from UCC but passed better than first class and second upper students in GRE, GMAT. Stop this nonsense Akufu Addo had third class. Yes, because he went to high school in London and did not understand his then ignorant lecturers in Ghana. University lecturers in Ghana don't teach. They are very proud. They fail students without explanations. They post grades, students don't see their question papers. Let Ghana introduces a standard exams like GRE as in USA. You will know that many 3rd class graduates are better. I know many brilliant people who were given 3rd class because their lecturers envied their potentials and decided to spoil them.People get 2nd upper and turned to be 3rd class in administration. Administrators were changing grades especially at UCC BETWEEN 1995-2003. We must be very careful of 3rd class issue becos Ghana is very corrupt.

I think your article is motivated by attempts by the NDC's to taint Nana Addo as a man without qualifications. Yet, even as someone sympathetic to the NPP I find your claims here absurd, not least because:

1. You seem to accept without question the implied suggestion that NDC has men with better paper qualifications. If this was the case, President Mahama would have been struggling for years to want to go and do a PhD and only managed to do a graduate diploma in social (propaganda) psychology in Russia. Similarly, if Fifi Kwetey had such stellar grades at A-levels and a First Class in Economics, why was he loitering around after Legon without a job and only managed to undertake a master's degree in London while a deputy minister in Mills' administration?

2. You're effectively making a case for retaining the NDC in power; for, if wealth is your criterion for office, it is the NDC that has more money bags, as we speak!

People like to romanticice college dropouts who built successful businesses. But business and public office are two different things. It is the reason you don't find the Bill Gates regularly running for public office. Typically, when they do, they get exposed for the shallowness of their knowledge about policies! Throughout history, the greatest leaders have never successful businessmen. In contrast, many a leader with paper qualifications have proved transformational, e.g. Nkrumah and Lee Kwan Yew, both straight out of school threw themselves into politics. What these men show us is that in politics vision, knowledge, character and oragnisational abilities matter more than a 100years of routine experience!

You finally came around to your senses Rockson Adofo; hopefully you can apply your new measures to all your classroom educated but ignorant Ghanaians and Ghanaian-wannabe in the Diaspora as well.

How could any of our leaders be wise if they've spent most of their years in politics as Nana has and nothing to show for on the ground? Most parts of the Eastern region are as underdeveloped and under achieved like places in the Central and Western regions with one striking difference. The Akufo-Addo and Danquah clan has represented the Eastern region for years. In the Presidential campaigns Nana has contested he has failed to tell Ghanaians to give him the opportunity to make Ghana look more like what he has done for the district or Region he has represented all his life whereas the same cannot be said of others. We live in a Ghana that has not changed and will probably not change because of our politics motivated by tribe and not common sense or wisdom. We could not have J. J. Rawlings who murdered Ghanaians in the name of corruption clean up but cannot explain why he took US$2 million from another African politician or that he took CPP properties and turned them over to a women's group led by his wife. There's no amount of classroom credentials that will ever make up to wisdom and we have shown that to be nothing but the truth in Ghana. We the voters are not smart and our politicians are downright ignorant with all the degreed money can buy.

Be advised Mr columnist that Your Akufo Addo is a "Lawyer" without a law certificate which he stated in his documents when he called to the Ghana Bar and for the records, he is a 3rd class economics graduate, not alleged.

pls Be smart enough not to deceive yourself that Nana Addo is Less Educated, because during their time, earning a Degree was base on purely and Genuine academics. Now any body can buy a degree those you mention as degree Hold ...
