I don't understand this government. There are shortage of nurses in the system, yet graduate nurses are left in the house unemployed.

Please reasses ur article.U are rather silently pushing a political agenda.
As nurses we shd not deny the fact that;
-Nursing (healthcare) Assistants are important to our work.
-Nursing Assistants have always been in existance (And not only in GH)
-The nurse: patient (ratio) had always been wide but the need to appreciate its narrowing within th last decade (Anecdotal based on observation of number of nurses in various facilities)
-Its also worth knowing that gov't is not the only employer.The private sector exist and and dont risk telling me nhiavcollapsed de private.
-Govt nurses cant be targeted at nursing coz other modules were designed to assist other professionals/agency workers.I do not know ur appreciation of work at de lower levels of healthcare especially in rural ghana as this cadre of staff are helpful coz those facilities cant employ support staff burddening nurses
-I however find difficulties in accepting any reasons why GRNMA has been too quite over this allowance bullshit by govt.I suggest we cut their allowances too for them to feel it too .
-Previous GNMTA Executives between 2007-2010 were a part of de antecedents of this allowa nonsense coz of their private interest n deals at M.
In summary Halidu de percived govt nurses are not and cant be used to devalue nurses nether is de govt.
Devaluation of de profession is due to actions n inactions of GRNA n most nurses.

Please graduate nurses blame yourselves. Most of you feel too big in the wards. You wear your degrees on your shoulders,have no sympathy for patients and often times speak rudely to them. Ghana was not ready for degree nursing but your leaders called for it because of remuneration. Our people need" in ward nurses " Your stance against this id why community nursing came up.Change your attitude and you will get jobs.

I wonder why people still have these achaic mindset that nursing should only be diploma. Over the years some people have decided to create bad impression about degree nurses. Scorpio how did u arrive by this conclusion about degree nurses? What is through a research or one degree nurse mishaves and u generalized. We have bad diploma nurses as well. So don't get generalized. The diploma nurses insulting the degree nurses are the same people who rush to private universities to get degrees. My question is if degree nursing is all bad why are u all diploma nurses rushing to do your degrees. When alot of countries are making nursing degree throughout we in Ghana are rather ignoring them with some stupid midset. Mediocrity in ghana is too much.

I think ur article is insightful. however I think ur should be blunt enough to say it with no equivocation that it's the government n not politics. politics merely has to do with the scramble for power. what u do with that power has to do with governance. bad governance is what has led us to this point n not bad politics. #myopinion
