Excellent article, it is indeed the qualities of leadership that's holding Africa back. The only African leader worthy of praises is Botswana president.

It is not enough to say we must elect good leaders. That is no suggestion at all. We have known that since long.
You say the people should take their destiny in their hands. What is the practical step to be done to achieve that?
We need specific suggestions, things we can do tomorrow to start the revolution. Practical action that can be undertaken not general platitudes.
The problem with us is not that we don't know what to do. The problem is our inability to do what we know we must do. We must find a way to force us to do the things that we must do. And that is where we need practical and specific suggestions.
It's not easy oooo...

The biblical MOSES WAS A GREAT LEADER yet he delayed in reaching the promised land not because he was incapable but because of the people's attitude and you know it.The situation in Africa is like a woman with gonorrhoea;you must treat her and her husband at the same time else the sickness will never depart.Don't only concentrate on one side Mr writer.Advice the people as well.

In my opinion the writer is confuse of his own article. The writer mention that Rawlings,Kuffour and Mahama are good people and they did their best but it is not working is unprecedented. How is people that are corrupt, murders, thieves becomes good people?Black problem is that blacks people themselves regard themselves as inferior and pessimistic and lack the can do spirit to achieve anything.Ghana leadership in general behaves like the foolish servant who master gives 1 talent and dig the ground to buried his talent is exactly what Ghana is doing. Our leadership is irresponsible just look at Mahama administration that allow foreigners to coming and take our gold and diamond for free and destroy our forest, pollute our drinking waters and poison it with deadly toxic chemical and when we voice our he said they are doing business for living and you call this fool good man?this same man killed mills for power and he has stolen $10 billion and gold which were consficated in Turkey to enrich himself and you call this thief and a criminal nation wrecker a good man?If you said the man who introduce NHIS,school feeding, allowances and maternity care is good then you are right but since he did not support research is also and inferior who contribute to road to nowhere.Rawlings came to sell all working industries and give many to friends and relatives and close the rest so that Ghanaians become Unemployed and he tell Ghana to play lotto. How could a man who beat women with canes in their private parts strip naked a good man?We witness both our parliament and judiciary abandon local furnitures manufactures to buy foreign and we witness our useless president buying 1000s of foreign cars and abandon local manufactural. With this evil mentality how will we get out of this mess. The man who by his good work supervise the longest railway construction in China and after completion of the job the contractor give a small token as thank you and when the Chinese leader heard about it say is corruption and he got executed to serve as deterrence to other.Folks as far as our leaders don't read the Bible to get inspiration from it,we will still regard ourselves as inferior people and we have inventors that the whites are after their inventions and innovation as I write the Chinese have Gideon Agyari solar technology and the US has Asidu Abudu secret camera technology,But they don't see the technology as inferior and also the technology that detect counterfeit product.Folks common road and building we import foreigners to come and built for us.Both Nkrumah and Acharmpong use uneducated illiterates to built both Tema and Dansoman estates.Folks it sad that evil men and wicked criminals are call good people. The Book of Isaiah 5:20 writes, woe to those who call evil good and good evil, and who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. It shocks that the writer call evil men good.

In Ghana, we should allow the rule of law to work. We live in a nation where our laws are afraid to go against the top in our society but the law goes hard on the average and the ordinary man/woman.
We should remember what Obama said when he came to Ghana. He said, "We need strong institutions and not strongmen". Unquote. Most of the nation that had developed respect the rule of law because that is paramount. Till we do that, nothing will work.
Let me give you one example. Look at the case if Woyome. The current deputy speaker of parliament is knee deep inside Woyome's pocket but the man had swore not to budge and dare anyone to take him on. In New York state, their speaker of parliament whose name is Sheldon Silvers, was accused of corruption. After deep investigation was conducted, he had been found guilty and is now serving time in jail. Do you see the difference? That is how the rule of law works. While the long arm of the law in the US respects no one, our law is scared of going after those at the top and how can we move on with that kind of nonsense?
Remember the investigation done by Anas which found most of our supreme court judges accepting goats and ruling cases which send the innocent one into jail. Come on, how can a nation move on with such unexplained foolishness?
Additionally, our mindset must change from that "tribal idiocy" to an open one. We have see every Ghanaian as our own than dwelling on tribal lines.
If we can allow the rule of law and change our mindset, trust me, we will make a huge leap over the deep hole staring in our face.
