  The Operation Feed Yourself did work-to some extent. The real problem was, the food was EXPORTED. Kutu Acheampong was more interested in Foreign Exchange to buy cars and luxry goods.

  The Operation Feed Yourself did work-to some extent. The real problem was, the food was EXPORTED. Kutu Acheampong was more interested in Foreign Exchange to buy cars and luxry goods.
  The Austrailian Government was first impressed on the OFY idea. To encourage the project, they sent Ghana "Yellow Corn" poultry feed. Acheampong then ordered that humans can consume this poultry feed. Actual Ghanaian foodstuffs were being smuggled out or exported.
