I am an old white guy in the US. I have been in Ghana, and am torn to see such good people, with such corrupt institutions, and no apparent leadership to address the basic problems. It just tears me up to see that you can not just send mail through the service in Ghana and expect that it will be given to the receiver intact as sent. Also, to be stopped by police who expect to receive a bribe to be allowed to proceed with your business, is such a detriment to any progress as a nation. If these kind of problems are not addressed, I see not much progress for Ghana as a nation.

No nation on this planet had advanced or prospered without strict adherence to rule of law. Ghana and other African nation have failed to move an inch due to their inability to enforce the rule of law. We have all the institutions like the US but we cannot allow the long arm of the law take a drastic beating on the law breakers and we know the consequences of that.
In the US, there is a clause in the constitution which states that "No one is above the law" unlike ours which says something else like "the law can catch the little fishes in river and allow the big ones to swim anyhow they like".
We cannot progress with such a mindset and that is an undeniable fact. The rule of law in our dear nation must be paramount. There should be no ifs or buts.
