Kuffour did a lot for this nation. He discovered oil in commercial quantities, established well functioning National Health Insurance Scheme, established School Feeding Program, erected Keta Sea Defence Wall, brought Ghana out of HIPC status and took us out of IMF/World Bank bondage to give us economic freedom, redenominated the Cedi to restore its value and dignity, attracted a lot of foreign investors into the country, built roads and bridges, Ghana's economy became the fastest growing in the world, etc. etc. Can you deny any of these? Kwasea think before you talk next time.

Any political observer who seriously believes that there was, is, and will be a third political force in Ghana is joking. With the election results, it is clear that there are two major political forces (the right and the left or social democrats). From the results of the smaller social democrat parties (PPP, CPP, NDP, PNC, etc) did not make any impact. Udoum was very disappointing and I just cannot understand why he keeps on running. He has been reported to have said that PPP will continue to be a positive opposition. How, where, when and without a single MP in parliament?
NPP's victory was emphatic and a clear message of change from the electorate and no one can deny it unless they are pretending.
The idea of a third force in Ghana will not happen even if CPP, PPP and PNC merge as one party because their total share of the votes will still be small. As long as NDC is strong there will be no third force in Ghana.
Since independence there have always been two political forces in Ghana and this will continue to be so for a very long time. The best option is for the left to give up the illusion of a third force and instead, all of them merge with NDC so the two-party political force will be cemented in Ghana as it has always been.

Put Nduom in the same position like Akufo-Addo and there will be no difference. I do mean, every politician in Ghana is a corrupt criminal. The law is there and they never use it. In other words, so long as the law is disregarded, nothing better will happen.
That is why I believe Samia Nkrumah, or God-leaning ladies like Afua Fremaa Busia would be better choices instead. We have to try some of the ladies. It doesn't mean ladies aren't corrupt, some are better than the men.
Fremaa was already giving NPP some good heat for their corruption when the decided to ditch her. More so when she decided she wasn't going to sleep with them.
Akufo-Addo will be rewarding himself with cash to fill the holes created by his former electoral losses but as I said in some earlier post, who knows, he may be the best so far. We wait to see.
For now, he should quickly step up to condemn those attacks on NDC supporters. And, we should give him the support he needs too, and stop writing stupid articles.

We all witnessed the campaign(s), but from different angles, of course.
From our vantage position, none of the "non-establishment political part(ies)...free from the seismic scandals of public corruption commonly associated with...duopolistic system...", ever showed any real commitment to worthwhile Unitary Ghana principles, the kind championed by Kwame Nkrumah.
In fact, one or two of those parties who vied for the presidency are not even "free from the seismic scandals", or the perception, at least.
And, how many of them can we count who actually, seriously, bothered to articulate to the loss of over $6 billion in oil revenues under Mr. Mahama and his Ghana Hybrid Oil ministers, for instance?
This to say that we like to think the Fair Trade Oil Share (FTOS-Gh/PSA) Campaign for one, to which Francis Kwarteng was a signatory, and the numerous supporters, played a role in the loss by the NDC. (The records are still on these same pages, and on www.GhanaHero.com).
Clearly, few, if any, of the signatories to the FTOS/Gh petition voted for Mr. Mahama and the respective NDC minister-wannabees. Then, there are those who voted against Mahama and the NDC for one reason or the other, including others from the general voting electorate.
BUT, the President, or in this case, the President-Elect, is the President-Elect.
Speaking truth to that entity/Akufo-Addo and his party, must continue, just as we did under Kuffour NPP, Mills/Mahama's NDC, etc.
The good news, as our "Serious Akufo-Addo will appoint Martin Amidu as Attorney-General of Ghana!" essay attests, we have a solid baseline to evaluate the new government that is a lot more effective and useful than that IMANI crackpot of 5 proposals on the other side.
In part, Akufo-Addo must resolve the Ghana Oil contract so Ghana derives a lot more revenue than the 29%- and it cannot be the same concession-based Takir "Hybrid" Hammond Ghana Hybrid rip-off and contract on Ghana.
Peace!

We just checked the results of the election, Region-by-Region, again.
It appears no other party won a single seat in Parliament, besides the NPP and the NDC.
And, of course, the proscription of the CPP party over decades after the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah, continue to work in favor of the NDC and NPP (the latter, in particular).
But, what it is is what it is!
So, it appears, as recent history continues to show, all those "...non-establishment political part(ies)...", have persisted to want to start right from the top.
But, that is no wining political strategy in front of voters who are free.

When I suggested the CPP needed to change its name and reach out to the grassroots and the young to expose the lies of the Agents that pursued Ghana's downfall via our first Coup, many of the Party pooh-poohed it, adding to the menacing of the radical, incorrigible violence-prone UP/NLM activists, who are intolerant of any criticisms, however genuine and deserving.
The fight forward in Ghana must not necessarily be Nkrumahism, but is also, undeniably, not winnable with the feudalistic, fascist, hypocritical, and oligarchic, crony pseudo-capitalist craze.
There is no doubt that our Population now comprises mostly of younger generations that have been brainwashed for far too long by those who have always wanted to re-write our History to sanitize the treasonous and violent actions of their past Political relatives. These generations are those who have to be encouraged to seek the truth about Ghana from numerous genuine sources, thanks to the Information Super-Highway of today, to fully understand what our real difficulties were in the past, and are at present, to correctly apply the measures needed to overcome them and win greater progress in the days ahead.
Ghana can only make accelerated advances into a fitting New Millenium progressive country only when her leaders fully recognize the gross political hoaxes of the past and are committed to put all the facts on the table and proceed with unprecedented transparency that the FOIB could ensure. Hence, my iteration of the call to pass the FOIB promptly.
Meanwhile, with the maliciously groomed and ill-informed vendetta-mentality Politicians in the way, our Youth can hardly have the correct information from the past to guide them to make less mistakes along the way. We must help the young to identify the deceiving old political tokes of failed and failing ideologies and challenge them with irrefutable facts existing. And the Young can only be that vocal with a third Party that could assemble the best ideas on all sides from the past and trash the falsehoods, also.
In short, we really need a strong third Party with massive curious, intelligent, youthful membership to force Ghana into the right groove for development that our resources are capable of allowing.
Long Live Ghana!!!

Don't blame the electorate. If they see a credible third alternative, they will gravitate towards it. Blame the nkrumaist forces who have remained split all these while. Blame Nduom, Samia, Greenstreet and the others who all want to go it alone.
Unless there's a credible third alternative, it will be only NPP and NDC and the electorate should not be blamed for their choices.

Lots of Ghanaians don't have any hatred against Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP. However, guys like Francis Kwateng and their NDC apparatchiks, eps Koku Anyidoho, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, Omane Boamah and other hard core criminals would spread all kinds of concocted lies and fabricated stories about Nana.
These silly write ups were spread shared on the airwaves, esp. through campaign ads, by NDC in their bid to denigrate the nobleman. But thanks God, Ghanaians saw through everything and snubbed those crazy lies. In the end, the evidence was clear; Ghanaians rejected the wicked NDC's plot and voted massively for Nana and the NPP. Nana Akufo-Addo made history; the huge gap of votes between Nana and Mahama confirms that Ghanaians were angry about the corruption and thievery in the Mahama-led NDC gov't. After crashing heavily to the ground in the December elections, the NDC is trying to regroup in hopes to prepare finding ways to punch holes in Nana's development programs and projects, even before he's sworn in as president. I heard NDC's John Jinapor sound so mean and certain; he hinted on what the NDC intends to do, when complained about Nana's election promises, esp. the "one district, one factory, and for the people of the Northern Region,"one village, one dam, as well as the "one district, $1 million" as he went on his country-wide tours. Crazy people; John Mahama has proven to be clues and incompetent and that's a fact the NDC must accept. Nana is poised to make Ghana work again.
It's obviious that it's envy and hatred that bring people to write these kinds of silly things about noble people. So author of this crap of an article had better find something worthwhile to write about than waste time doing this. Nana is the people's choice; he's visionary and smart and poised to lead our dear nation unto paths of great progress and prosperity. Stop this hatred; it won't lead you anywhere.

ALTHOUGH THE MAJORITY OF GHANAIANS GAVE AKUFFO-ADDO THE MANADATE TO RULE THE NATION FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS, MANY SERIOUS SOCIOECONOMIC QUESTIONS ESCAPED THE MINDS OF GHANAIAN VOTERS.
WAS IT NOT THE NPP, A CRIMINAL ORGANISATION, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF KUFFOUR, WITH AKUFFO AS A MEMBER OF THAT RULING GOVERNMENT OF EIGHT YEARS, THAT STOLE THE IDENTITY OF THE NATION, CORRUPTED THE NATION, ENTERED INTO DUBIOUS AND FICTITIOUS CONNTRACT DEALS(STA,JAMAICA OIL FINANCIAL DEAL) MANIPULATED AND EMBEZZLED STATE FUNDS, LOTTED STATE PROPERTIES AND SQUANDERED THE FUTURE OF THE PRESENT AND THE NEXT GENERATIONS IN GHANA.
THE ELECTION IS FINALLY OVER,THE MAJORITY OF GHANAIANS HAVE GIVEN HIM THE MANADATE TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF GHANA FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS.
THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN.
THIS IS DEMOCRACY,AND WHAT GHANAIANS HAVE TO DO IS TO WISH HIM GOODLUCK; AND NOT WITH TEARS,AND FOR HIM TO FULFILL THE MANY 'PROMISES'' HE MADE TO THE SEVENTY(70%)PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE LIVING IN THE RURAL AREAS AND STILL LIVING IN MUD AND HUT STRUCTURES AND THE REST OF THE PEOPLE IN HIS CAMPAIGN TRAIL.
ONE THING, HE NEEDS TO BEAR IN MIND,THE HARDWORKING ILLITERATE COCOA FARMERS AND UNSKILLED MINE WORKERS CANNOT CONTINUE TO EARN THE NATIONS HARD CURRENCY TO SERVICE NATIONAL BUDGETS, WAGES AND SALARIES, IMPORTATION OF COMMODITIES, FOOD PRODUCTS AND EXPENSIVE LUXURY CARS AND JEEPS FOR USE BY NON-PRODUCTIVE EDUCATED AND SELF APPOINTED POLITICIANS FOR THEIR EXTRAVAGANT KIFESTYLES IN THE COUNTRY.
IT WILL BE TOTALLY WRONG FOR HIS GOVERNMENT TO DEPEND ON THE TOIL, SWEAT AND HARDWORK OF THE COCOA FARMERS AND UNSKILLED MINE WORKERS WHO CONTINUE TO LIVE IN DEPLORABLE CONDITIONS IN THE COUNTRY.
THIS IS THE TIME,THE SO CALLED EDUCATED WITH BIG DEGREES AD PHD TITLES,HAVE TO BE PRESSURED TO '''PERFORM'''IN THE TECHNOLOGY, SCIENTIFIC INNOVATION,CURIOUSITY, INVENTION AND CREATIVITY TO CREATE ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT AND TO ALLEVIATE POVERTY IN GHANA.
OTHERWISE, IT IS GOING TO BE THE OLD CANKER THAT CONTINUES TO PREVAIL IN THE COUNTRY FOR THE LAST FIFTY YEARS, LACK OF VISION AND PURPOSE AND FOR THEM TO TRAVEL ADDDITIONAL BOUNDARIES EVERY MONTH AND YEAR TO BEG FOR AID,LOANS, CREDIT AND GRANTS FROM WORLD BANK AND IMF.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT, HOW WERE THE ECONOMIES OF SOUTH KOREA,SINGAPOUR, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO AND MALAYSIA TTRANSFORMED, THEIR EDUCATED USED AND APPLIED, MATHEMATICS,PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY TAUGHT AT THE CLASSROOMS TO TRANSFORM THEIR COUNTRIES TO PROSPERITY.
HAVE WE EVEN MADE AN ATTEMPT IN EVER COMPETITIVE WORLD.
OUR ONLY TRADITION TO ABUSE, ARGUE AND CRITICISE.
A SAD AFFAIR WHICH NOTHING CAN JUSTIFY IT.
THE WORLD HAS CHANGED SINCE 1945, AND WITHOUT INNOVATIVE AND TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS,AND TECHNICAL KNOW-HOW,WE WILL ONLY CONTINUE TO REMAIN ECONOMIC BACKWARD, UNDERDEVELOPED AND EXTREME POOR FOR THE NEXT HUNDRED YEARS.
OPAYIN KWARTENG, LET US KINDLY KEEP OR FINGERS CROSSED, HOPING FOR THE BETTER, AND NOT A REPEATITION OF MANIPULATION,EMBEZZLEMENT, FRAUD, CORRUPTION AND STEALING OF STATE FUNDS.

Marcelino Dos Santos
(The sole uncorrupted member of Frelimo)
Francis, your rhetorical question why Ghanaians keep voting for the same kleptocratic parties has a simple answer. No progressive group has emerged that was united and did the hard grassroots work of educating the masses about what's really going on and offering them a credible alternative! The CPP has become a pseudo-Nkrumahist party, fully infiltrated and hijacked by well-known personalities on behalf of one wing of the political duopoly or the other at different times.
Unfortunately, Samia Nkrumah committed the grave error of weak leadership and isolation from the grassroots in the midst of serious sabotage from within. A new Nkrumahist party needs to be reborn which will institute political education for its cadres, exercise firm leadership based on a redrawn constitution, direct elections by members from the grassroots level (participative democracy) instead of the "electoral college" system of delegates at Congress (easily bought and paid for) and massive groundwork.

What a silly question from a full idiot!
