Is the American Electoral College any "wiser" than the popular vote? If so go and ask Hillary Clinton.

I hope you followed the controversy regarding how the Democratic National Committee (DNC) under Debbie Wasserman Schultz's leadership tried to tilt, and in fact succeeded in tilting, the primaries in favor of Hillary Clinton (at the expense of Bernie Sanders).

I also hope you are following possible Russian involvement in the American general elections. Democracy my foot!

If democracy "is the government of the people, by the people, and for the people" Clinton will be the President-elect, not Donald Trump. So you see, not every dunce understands this simple concept.

Then again nowhere in the history of man has "democracy" ever been about "the government of the people, by the people, and for the people." Elections are merely a formality in most democrat1c jurisdictions, after which the "people" are cut off from real decision-making processes about national life, etc.

In fact "true" or "genuine" democracy [READ: LIBERAL DEMOCRACY] does not exist. It never has and probably will never be. Perhaps you were referring to ILLIBERAL DEMOCRACY!

Now, finally, let those influential NPP folks on Ghanaweb (and other web portals) who tried to lure me to the NPP (and failed) and then those same NPP folks who tried to hook me up with some leading members of the NDC (and here too failed), come here and tell readers that I am lying.

The reverse, namely NDC folks trying to lure me, also took place for a number of years and that also failed. I am for Ghana and Africa and not for political parties.

I AM NEITHER NPP NOT NDC. I AM NOT EVEN CPP. I HAVE NEVER CARED ABOUT THE NDC OR THE NPP (YES, I HAVE INFLUENTIAL FRIENDSIN THE NPP, NDC AND THE CPP).

If your claim that you are a Christian is anything to go by, then humbly ask your God to tell you whether I truly belong to or, have ever belonged to, any political party in Ghana!

Your silly argument is similar to those here on Ghanaweb who claim I belong to one ethnic group as opposed to another. Some say I am EWE even though I have cnsistently said I am Asante (father) and Fante (mother).

And what is wrong being an Ewe anyway? Are they not human beings? This sort of thinking is probably why Ghana (and Africa) is not moving ahead. On Ghanaweb you are either NDC or NPP! Or Ewe or Akan. And you cannot be a progressive centrist!

Such stupid rigid dichotomies!

An enigma is an enigma!

Many are they, also citizens of Ghana, who never received even 5% of the benefits of government resources that Kofi Annan and a few others have received all their lives.

Kofi Annan did a good job negotiating that peace deal for Kenya.

We imagine the Kenyans respected Kwame Nkrumah's Ghana just as much as Kofi Annan, perhaps even more!

Before Syria descended into the hell hole it is today, Kofi Annan was travelling to Syria, when he ought to have been on the road to Russia.

So, for all of Kofi Annan's international successes and "accomplished in life", of what benefit has it been to Ghana?

Why was it the case that Ghana needed a Peace Institute so much, and not an Anti-Corruption Institute?

Washington (AFP) - Barack Obama on Thursday said the United States would retaliate against Russian hacking after the White House accused Vladimir Putin of direct involvement in cyberattacks designed to influence the US election.

The outgoing US president's remarks dramatically upped the stakes in a dispute between the world's leading nuclear powers over interference that may have swayed last month's tight election in which Republican billionaire Donald Trump defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton.

"I think there is no doubt that when any foreign government tries to impact the integrity of our elections that we need to take action," Obama told NPR radio.

"And we will, at a time and place of our own choosing."

Pointing the finger at the Russian president over meddling in the election also puts the White House on a collision course with Trump, who has become increasingly isolated in questioning Russian involvement in hacks of Democratic Party emails that appeared to have slowed the momentum of Clinton's campaign.

Obama is expected to be peppered with questions about the dispute and any subsequent action when he holds a news conference Friday at 2:15 pm (1915 GMT) before leaving for a vacation in Hawaii.

"I don't think things happen in the Russian government of this consequence without Vladimir Putin knowing about it," one of his top advisers, Ben Rhodes, said earlier Thursday.

"Everything we know about how Russia operates and how Putin controls that government would suggest that, again, when you're talking about a significant cyber intrusion like this, we're talking about the highest levels of government," he told MSNBC television.

"And ultimately, Vladimir Putin is the official responsible for the actions of the Russian government."

- 'Not a joke' -

White House spokesman Josh Earnest echoed his comments, saying the decision by US intelligence agencies in October to blame "Russia's senior-most officials" was not meant to be "particularly subtle."

Trump caused outrage in July by suggesting that Russia find 30,000 missing emails related to Clinton's use of a private server when she was secretary of state. Surrogates dismissed it as a joke, but he repeated his call on Twitter.

"I don't think anybody at the White House thinks it's funny that an adversary of the United States engaged in malicious cyber activity to destabilize our democracy. That's not a joke," Earnest said on Thursday.

"Mr Trump obviously knew that Russia was engaged in malicious cyber activity that was helping him and hurting Secretary Clinton's campaign," he added.

Asked if the White House believes Russia successfully rigged the election, however, he told reporters that there were a "variety of potential explanations, and that's more of a question for analysts of politics than it is for analysts of intelligence."

Trump, who blasted as "ridiculous" a reported CIA assessment that Russia was trying to help him win, has continued to question Russian involvement in hacks of damaging Democratic Party emails.

He used a campaign-style victory rally in Pennsylvania on Thursday to hit out against Earnest, calling him "this foolish guy" and questioning whether he was talking to Obama to boos from the crowd.

"Having the right press secretary is so important because he is so bad the way he delivers the message," said the president-elect, who has yet to appoint one for his own incoming administration.

- 'Ridiculous nonsense' -

"If Russia, or some other entity, was hacking, why did the White House wait so long to act? Why did they only complain after Hillary lost?" Trump tweeted earlier on Thursday.

The 70-year-old billionaire now appears increasingly isolated.

The assessment by the Central Intelligence Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation that Russia was involved has been accepted throughout government and by top Republican Senators.

On Wednesday, senior Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said he was informed by the FBI in August that his own campaign had been hacked.

"My goal is to put on President Trump's desk crippling sanctions against Russia," he said. "They need to pay a price."

Former CIA director Michael Hayden called Trump "the only prominent American that has not yet conceded that the Russians conducted a massive covert influence campaign against the United States."

A Kremlin spokesman on Thursday rejected the allegations of Putin's involvement as "ridiculous nonsense."

As for Trump's assertion that no one addressed the issue before the election, Obama has repeatedly said both the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee were apprised of the hacking and the Russian threat well before November 8.

In Congress, senior legislators are demanding a broad investigation and declassification of at least some of the secret CIA and FBI reports.

One of the beautiful things about a true democratic election is the need to rally around the people's eventual choice, to help promote good governance and national unity.

It is okay to question Akufo-Addo's leadership style and economic plans for the nation, but your current article would have served a stronger purpose if it had come out a year from now.

Let's give the president-elect at least one year to see the direction in which he is taking the country before we begin to unleash our one-sided, biased, political salvos.

Many of the things you had written about Akufo-Addo before the election were downright disrespectful, and that was quite a surprise from an educated man like you. Of course, we are all free to choose our topic, diction and writing style, but, ultimately, the readers reserve the right to judge our intentions and motivations.

Anyway Pryce is reading this series backwards. He himself has already written one piece on the election of Akufo-Addo and I did not have any problem with it. I truly enjoyed it.

Others such as Prof. Lungu have done the same, also which I particularly enjoyed.

Someone also wrote a controversial piece about Akufo-Addo's acceptance speech.

And then there are those who have discussed Akufo-Addo's campaign promises and their expectations of him and his government.

I read all these but chose not to comment on them because I had my own take on them.

In this series I am only expressing my expectations of Akufo-Addo and his incoming government.

With that said, Pryce should have closely read the last two sentences before this subtopic ("THE IMPLIED REPERCUSSIONS OF KOFI ANNAN'S CHECKERED LEGACY FOR AKUFO-ADDO’S") before implying that that I "said" we should not rally behind Akufo-Addo.

Rallying behind Akufo-Addo does not mean I cannot tell him what I expect of him and his incoming government.

It does not mean I cannot keep him and his incoming government on their toes before they assume political office.

I HAVE EXPRESSED BY VIEWS EMPHATICALLY and asked him to prove me wrong. This is what this series is basically about.

Nigerians did the same before Buhari assumed office, so too were/are Americans (Donald Trump), Alassane Outtara (Ivory Coast), late Nelson Mandela, and a host of others.

Thus what I am doing in this series is nothing new. It is done all over the world. Others are doing the same in the comment section. Why is mine different? Is Akufo-Addo God? Was Nkrumah God? Is President Mahama God? Is Rawlings God?

For someone, who just graduated with a PhD in Criminoloy, he didn't see anything wrong with Samuel Awuku's gross declaration of results for the NPP, calling on the EC to declare the results she didn't have, Mahama to concede defeat when MyJoy for instance was showing him to be in the lead and the NPP mob tactics of calling their supporters onto the streets! Rather, he wrote an intellectually bankrupt piece with gods and devils having their roles to play in the unfolding elections drama! Phew! The man can't even do criminology. He did godology!

WE SAY: Good point, with respect to gloss failure to follow agreements/protocol.

For us, the more egregious one was Paa Kwesi Nduom, who also argued there was no point waiting further for the EC. That is the same Nduom who complained several years ago that Ghanaians do not plan ahead, unlike Americans.

But, as we say elsewhere, in 2016, Ghana actually bested the US in electoral practice, hands down. In fact, our prediction is, Ghana's Electoral Freedom Index will far surpass that of the US, the later due for a fair downgrade all around, from North Carolina to New York, to Wisconsin.

After all, that is the essence of communication. How many people will understand this pool of big words put together as sentences?

He is merely "chopping some" in a ceremonial position just like other parasitic hunchos of the NPP such as Sam Jonah (Cape Vars) and Otumfuor (KNUST).

Annan has no shame over the years he played errand boy to the US whether withdrawing UN troops before the Rwandan genocide or appointing President Bush Snr former Chief ofStaff and Texas oilman James Baker as envoy for mediation of the Western Sahara conflict.
