The writer writes: Laurent Gbagbo born in May 31, 1945 at the village of Mama was a history professor and a true pan Africanist. He obtained his PhD from the reputable Paris
Diderot University. He was the director of the Institute of History, Art and African Archaeology at the prestigious University of Abidjan in 1980. Gbagbo
was a known antagonist of the first president of Ivory Coast, Felix Houphouet Boigny affectionately known among the people of Bouake the second largest
city of the country as “Nana Boakye.” Gbagbo was secretly sponsored by the former dictator of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaore to unseat Nana Boakye the longtime
Ivorian president.
Gbagbo was an astute member of his political party: Ivorian Popular Front (FPI). In 1990, he won a seat as a member of Ivorian legislature (parliament
or national assembly) representing the voters of Ouragahio. He became the president of Ivory Coast from 2000-2011. The election 2010 was saddled with litigation
and protest. Gbagbo rejected the counts from 9 constituencies on the grounds of fraud. Alassane Quattara was declared the winner and this was confirmed
by African Union (AU) Observers, Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) observers, and other international observers.
Tell me, has the writer of the article written any literature about the above exposition? If the answer is no, then he had taken someone's works and should as a matter of academic honesty, give credit to his sources. Otherwise, he has plagiarised,--he has stole from someone.

Tell your instructor to tell you the difference between a common knowledge and a plagiarized knowledge. A known historical facts, geographical facts do not require referencing. I agree with the other commentators that you are semi-educated man. Gbagbo was a head of State and thus information about him become a common knowledge. The writer used those historical data known to the public to support his original idea that Gbagbo was/is not being treated fairly. It is only an ignorant or first time learners of plagiarism who will claim that this writer must cite and date and place of birth of Kwame Nkrumah. Finish schooling before writing this garbage. At least, you could have consulted some well-educated individual before embarrassing yourself.

Plagiarism: using the work of others without acknowledging your source of information or inspiration.
Obviously, the writer of the article refreshed his mind about the biographies of the personalities in the article through a source and he should as a matter of academic honesty give credit to the source of the information. Failure to do so constitutes plagiarism.
What does citing and referencing mean?
Citing: Acknowledging the contribution of a specific individual or organisation as a source of a particular statement, view, argument or decision.
You ‘cite’ the author and year of publication for any source you use whether you are directly quoting from the text or paraphrasing. You do this at the point where you use the source within the text of your essay (in-text citation).
Referencing: Referencing ensures that whatever you have cited can be identified precisely.
The references will normally appear at the end of your essay or assignment.
