  Your ethnocentric master JJ's 'protective shield' constitution is what has led Ghana on this path of self destruction and until all the loopholes he enshrined in the constitution by him to protect his wicked, corrupt, selfish and murderous ass are plugged, Ghana will continue to self-destruct despite what 'magic' wand good and well-intentioned future presidents will wield.
  As for Mahama, he just enjoyed the loot and did not try to change anything.
  
  So stop throwing shade at people and look at your own inner circle because that was where Ghana's problems emanated from.

  He paved the way for these crooks to 'eat and multiply' despite all his shenanigans of being the purest. That's just for the gullible Ghanaians to swallow whole.... line, hook and sinker... behind that façade is one of the most corrupt, wicked and wretched souls to walk the surface of the earth.
  
  He masterminded the constitution for the soul purpose of protecting himself from legal actions and to milk the nation financially till his death.... and by so doing added more financial burden unto the backs of the already tax-assailed Ghanaian taxpayer by enshrining it in his signature constitution that all of these said public servants will go tax free.
  
  By 'protecting' himself with his BS constitution, he selfishly paved the way for Ghana to be fleeced even more by people who came after him.
  
  That BS constitution has to be revisited to plug all those holes intentionally created by this evil man and free-loader.

  I'm not yet a fan of yours, Professor Lungu but by all standards, this is an excellent piece. It resonates in my ears while it stabilizes my blood pressure.
  In a belly-up economy where the poverty rate keeps soaring while incomes diminish by the day, it does make simple economic sense to ask the nation's highest paid to contribute more in taxes or at least pay their fair share. Besides having huge benefits and allowances they take home whopping amounts in salaries. This is not just unfair but also a slap in the face of the poor folks whom these heartless politicians and lawmakers run to every four years, shamelessly rolling over themselves to ask for their votes in order to ascend to the pinnacle of power and fulfill their self-centered political ambitions.
  These kind of people-oriented articles are very much appreciated but they will be more effective if the people can be educated enough to take to the streets regardless of political or ethnic affiliation. Thanks Professor Linguistics.

  The President-elect, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has stated so many times that he's not in government to make money but came to serve. He has even warned his would be appointees not accept being appointed if their intention is to fleece the people. I think a way of showing Nana's commitment to this is for him to lean towards an amendment of the constitution which will allow such officials to pay tax on their income. As for the 1992 Constitution the least said about it the better. It contains so many flaws which needs to be corrected immediately. It is a constitution written to protect only one person, Rawlings. The 'change' which Ghanaians had anticipated should not be just the change of government, but it should be a change of so many things including the constitution. There should be a total overhaul. I think it is time for us to turn our attention to things being done properly. This is the beginning of the change.
