I wonder how and why Ghanaians are given overwhelming ears to H.E Nana Addo Danquah's speech as plagiarism. The speech wasn't plagiarized, as it's been over 70years since the death of the original speech deliverer (Woodrow Wilson, died 1924), and even if the original author of the speech was still alive, the speech could have became a public domain, meaning anybody can choose to use it as he or she wants without giving credit to the one that created it. The original speech was delivered in 1913 so what's the point of calling it a plagiarism.
George Bush used it and didn't give any credit because the laws governing copyright has made that speech a public domain. Bill Clinton did equally the same without given any credit due to the same laws of academic copyright. Therefore, why and how are you tagging H.E Nana Addo Danquah for plagiarism.
You wrote a very nice piece of topic but you failed to do the research, which could have enlightened you about the laws regarding plagiarism in the U.S. Kindly try to do your homework or background checks and balances before writing subject of this nature that has laws abiding what one can do and cannot do.

Do we always credit that made those statements before us? How often don't we hear people say " it is good to push upward someone who is climbing a fruitful tree?. Have any of us making that statements attributed it to someone specific? Statements made years ago usually loose their original ownership and people must reflect on the contents and its relevance to the present situation. Let us not be kindergarten kids. Grow up.

You hit several home runs in this your article. Good brain fodder. I can't help but smile. I also after hearing the speech concluded thus:
1. He must have deliberately simplified it to lessen the "uppity krache" status he's been tagged with.
and
2. Decided he would let a speech writer try his/her hands on assisting him in that manner.
Once the plagiarism cat was let out of the bag, I was cross, because I posited Nana himself, left to write what he said in that speech, would certainly have found delectable words to convey those beautiful ideas.

I certainly haven't listened to many of his speeches but there's a certain ring to it,as you say "I can tell a speech meant for Nana Addo if it is read by a Chinese man"...
Thanks for taking this bull by the horns, left to many, it'd still be the elephant in the room. It was a let down. Whoever did the deed needs to sit up at post, if they still are at post....
