  Nkrumaism is the suspension of one’s analytical reasoning for the cultic and self-abnegating worship of Kwame Nkrumah in the belief that he never dies or does no wrong. It is also the wholesale inheritance of Nkrumah’s friends (if any) as heroes and the peremptory criticism of his real or imaginary enemies.
  
  Within this evil ideology, the elements of Nkrumah’s dictatorship: his imprisonment without trial, his self-aggrandizement, his one-party state, his suppression of the press, his book-burning and his life presidency all constitute a catechism of toleration which must be defended on the fake grounds of necessity and passionately extolled through blatant lies or by reference to similar evils elsewhere. His disastrous economic policies which left a rich nation on its knees is seen as a great model, and his character as an ingrate who destroyed all those that helped him is deemed worthy of emulation.
  
  To the Nkrumaist maniacs, unanswerable questions are made simpler by postures of diversion and deviation or simple distractions or gratuitous insults. And the most straightforward questions are resolved by the statement that Osagyefo Dr. J.B. Danquah was a CIA agent, or that Nkrumah was voted Africa’s man of the millennium; or that some persons somewhere praised him somehow, or that similar evils existed and were accepted elsewhere; or that all those against Nkrumah are treasonous “Mate Me Ho” nation wreckers and their descendants.
  
  There is not a single question the Nkrumaists answer by dwelling on the salient issue of Nkrumah’s arrant dictatorship.
  
  To the warped minds of the typical Nkrumaists, Kwame Nkrumah's dictatorship never happened in Ghana; one party state was a dream; life presidency was our imagination; imprisonment without trial was our hallucination; and the massive euphoria that attended Nkrumah's final overthrow was our mass delusion!
  
  All those who helped Nkrumah: Those who paid his passage; those who put him up; those who helped him to become President:Komla Agbeli Gbedemah, Kojo Botsio, Akufo Addo, J.B. Danquah, Ako Adjei. Obetsebi Lamptey, and all those good friends and compatriots of Nkrumah who were murdered, incarcerated or exiled by the man....They were all corrupt nation wreckers!
  
  How come?
  
  Nkrumaism is indeed the psychiatric condition that ossifies the brain and imposes the delusion on its victims that Nkrumah does no wrong, that the long dead Nkrumah is not really dead, and that at the appointed time, he will return to make all things perfect.
  
  Under this harrowing religious spell, the Nkrumaists will cast aspersions on all others, even those like Gbedemah who made Nkrumah who he was. Nkrumah had no friends except those who never met him, or really knew him, and nobody will escape the screeching indictments of these mad dogs who would have been destroyed completely by Nkrumah had they met him.
  
  Like Rip Van Winkle, the Nkrumaists are asleep for too long; but unlike Rip Van Winkle, they will never ever wake up, not even after a hundred years.....
  
  And so it goes; for the brain-dead Nkrumaist-mongers like Prof. (Ku)Lungu, nothing will, or can ever change. If in doubt, see how so fixated Kulungu is in the spelling of Gbedemah's middle name.
  
  After being corrected several times in this small matter, he persists forever in his error. And so it goes!
  
  They keep on doing the same thing over and over again under the illusion that there will be a different outcome. That indeed, is the symptom of crass insanity!

  The brilliance of SAS's comment compared to Lungu's cut and paste gibberish here leads to inescapable conclusion that hero worshipping is indeed a dangerous affliction. If Lungu, with all his education, fails to understand why Nkrumah had to be overthrown, then I am afraid he doesn't understand Ghanaians yearn for freedom. My cocoa farmer father and his peers cherished his overthrow. Most of these farmers were illiterates and knew nothing of the CIA. They just had a feeling that Ghana was heading in the wrong direction. That is what matters and not what Gbedemah conspired to do. The groundswell was against Nkrumah and this further explains the demise of the CPP. Original thoughts like SAS's will rule the day and your continuous adulation of the messiah will die. Nkrumah is indeed dead.

  1. It is now clear who were directly responsible for the bomb outrages and the killing and maiming innocent civilians in Ghana.
  
  2, It is now clear Gbedemah and Busia were traitors and murderers of Ghanaians, killing more Ghanaians than Nkrumah ever signed death sentences for real murderers.
  
  3. It is now clear why the PDA was very important in curbing the terrorists and why some innocent persons got detained, as the authorities frantically tried to find the culprits behind bombings and assassination attempts.
  
  4. It is now clear that the Nkrumah regime was overthrown by imperialist machinations.
  
  5. It is now clear the imperialist forces keep records of all their shenanigans and one day, traitors such as Gbedema and Busia and their associates shall be revealed.
  
  Now that we have the facts, the process of re-writing history shall begin.

  The account details Afro Gbede's machinations against Nkrumah from long before the fallout between the two and to 1964 when it was written. As for me, I think some of this may be true but perhaps not everything.
  
  I am not very sure about the time Gbede started turning his green eyes on Nkrumah. It is true that Gbede may not be as ideologically inclined as Nkrumah but he supported him all the way through the fight for independence and beyond. Was it all because he wanted the prize for himself at the expense of the leader he had supported so much and for so long?
  
  The report also repeatedly assigns reasons for Gbede's actions as being in his nature: greed for power and money. It's a bit simplistic. The desire for power is the least convincing if only for the fact that there is no politician worth his salt who is not greedy for power. But the report gives the impression that Gbedemah wanted that power even at a time when Nkrumah was at the height of his power and would have been difficult to dislodge.
  
  As for the greed for money, yes, he must surely be guilty of that. But how much that greed would lead him to want to seize power for himself from a powerful leader can be debated.
  
  But the report's most serious indictment of Afro Gbede is his playing into the hands of the "imperialist" forces (read U.K. and USA) even as far back as the early 50s. It accuses Gbedemah of being a capitalist at heart through and through. This is putting it too neatly. I suspect Gbedemah may not have been "ideological" at all. He may have been following his natural inclinations but he certainly may have picked up certain socialist strains from Nkrumah. His real ideological convictions, if he had any, may have been seen if he had won the 1969 elections and ruled Ghana. I suspect it would have been some mixture of capitalism and elements from Nkrumah's thoughts. The man cut his political teeth in the company of Nkrumah (he was only a few years younger than Nkrumah).
  
  It is easier to believe in the plots against Nkrumah in which Gbedemah was involved when he went into exile. After all, if you're running away from someone, it's natural to try to plot the downfall of your nemesis. He could've had a hand in Kulungugu and the other attempts on Nkrumah's life. The report does not indicate if there were others also hatching their own plots against Nkrumah and not involving Gbedemah.
  
  Gbedemah may also have been very naive if he thought teeming up with Busia (they were both born in the same year) in exile would not be but just a temporary move. I cannot imagine Gbedemah and Busia in the same party appealing to Ghanaians for votes.
  
  Well, Prof Lungu brought up this piece for the purpose of information and discussion. We are grateful for that. I agree it was too long to post in one fell swoop. I suspect the anonymous writer may be a Togolese intellectual privy to some of the happenings but clouding the report with his own interpretations and suspicions. Not all of these may be impartial.
  
  Well, we all know what happened after 1964 when the report was written. There were more attempts on Nkrumah's life, the coup did happen. We are told CIA was behind it. We don't know how much Gbedemah and Busia contributed but they quickly came back home to contest Nkrumah's former post. Busia died in exile aged 65. Afro Gbede died in 1998 aged 85. And the discussion of their roles in the political history of our country goes on. There's no need to insult anybody when engaging in this discussion...

  For some of us, the other important thing is also to be able to connect the missing dots, to include that Dover, NJ, OJ story and Akosombo Dam. And when we connect the dot, we then must attempt to put the re-discovered into public circulation, outside the academy, if we can.
  
  In Part 2, the article provides the following information: "...Just one "" operation "" of buying 24 locomotives from the Swiss businessman Johann Bernard Litscher brought him 10,000 Ghanaian pounds transferred to his account by the Henschel Firm in one of the Swiss banks...".
  
  It has not taken us more than 1 hour to find the following since we discovered the document:
  
  1 The Henschel Firm, German, manufactured and sold locomotives, pre- and post Nazi for sure
  
  2. After numerous transitions, the Henschel Firm now exists as part of Bombadier, Canada
  
  3. As of today, a "Johann Bernard Litscher" V, of Switzerland, has landed proporty assessed at ~$3.5M in Florida, USA. (Suggests that actual appraised/market value is well over $20 million).
  
  These are certainly measures of credibility that ought to be part of the updated narrative, more than 64 years later, you must agree.
  
  The paper is an important one with respect to the history of Ghana on account the record shows that the Johnson-CIA was in fact instrumental in the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah's popularly-elected government, in 1966.
