You argue that no one is indispensable and quote Friedrich Nietzsche that we must eschew inflexibility in our thinking; that the IGP has the prerogative to make changes to his staff; yet you seem to view the transfer of COP Kofi Boakye as bad move and perhaps politically motivated ? What an unfortunate and dim witted view.? I do not understand your Human Resources theory. When and where did you learn that a critical staff position like planning and research is a demotion? Do you know what the job of planning and research entails? Keeping a line manager who has performed admirably in one position for too long is bad management practice. Lateral moves are usually better for the organization and the worker mutually. COP Boakye and COP Atinga are at the top of the career ladder and there can be only one IGP which is the next promotional spot. Unless of course new ladder level like Deputy IGP is created? It is also unfortunate to insinuate that IGP Asante Appeatu's appointments was not based on merit but is political? Check the CV of the new IGP. Promotions at the executive level based on seniority is not best for progress of any organization. The current IGP has held both line and and staff management positions including solid international service assignments with the Interpol in Lyon, France and UN assignments as well.
A deep bench of COPs with varied operational and staff management experiences are best for our Police Administration. Transfers of regional commanders also opens opportunities for younger high potential staff to gain experience as top line managers.
I don't think COP Nathan Kofi Boakye himself would like to be stock in the Ashanti Regional command post for the next four years either. Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep balance one has to keep pedaling to move forward. As you rightly said no one is indispensable. The turnstile has to keep moving or we will never see progress.
Finally, the new IGP is the only one who would be held accountable for his management decisions. You should stop the second guessing!!!

Did the writer know that the current IGP is one of of top notch Police Officers and that he was once posted to INTERPOL to be the ?Director for Specialized Crime and Analysis Directorate? Does he know that he solved the killing of women in Accra some time ago that had hitherto become a national headache?
But where was he put by the previous Police Admin when he was called back from INTERPOL before he became the IGP? He was posted to be the Director General responsible for Marine Police & ICT. He accepted it because in the Police Service, any officer can be posted anywhere.
The fact that COP Kofi Boakye has done so well in the Ashanti Region does not mean he should remain there ad infinitum!Or for that matter he is better than other serviing Police Officers!
You must follow the dictates of the Service and listen to what their PRO has said.
