  very well written. I share you thoughts. How wise are we to spent USD5m celebrating an anniversary yet we have nothing show off. This money could put up about 10 schools and naming them 60th anniversary schools or whatever.

  You provide an incisive article with your views on how or why these celebrations should be deferred to more laudable causes. Much as I may agree with you in principle, I see nothing wrong in indulging in some of our achievements, however feeble, to spur us on to achieve greater things, even as we confront the many obstacles along the way... this is even more poignant as we embark on a new era of hope, and more importantly if the funding is not form government coffers but from well wishers....Maybe, some of us are just gloom Sayers who are against anything to cheer about !!

  DEGREES AND TITLES IN THE MIDST OF POVERTY SHOULD SOUND VERY SHAMEFUL ON THEIR SO CALLED AQUIRED ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS.
  
  AND NEVER SHOULD WE DESPAIR,WITH DETERMINATION AND EFFORTS OF THE FEW, WILL OVERCOME ONEDAY.

  the unemployment, the filth everywhere even in our cities, the common malaria we can't fight as independent people depending on donors, the too much waste in our system, the dependent of donor support in funding some part of our budget or how politicians all both NDC and NPP have failed the nation.
  or simply allowing the white man to think for us yet claim independence?
  perhaps our gullibility or mediocrity as a nation is what our myopic leaders want us to celebrate.

  hopes are far away from Ghanaians. a where every where is smelling shit. a country with out inner city. a county that dumping side is shit everywhere. a with only towns without city's a country with out between the two mejor city's like Accra to kumsi.a country with out man holes open gutters everywhere even the capital is big town no modern infrastructure.then what bachievement are we celibrating? I am a Ghanaian and I know Nana addo is a citizen of England he knows that we ve nothing to cellibrate in Ghana. a country with les than 30milion population with all kind of resources no even a single skyscripa nothing. if just arrive in Ghana you dont see nothing impressive I wonder if we ve modern architect in Ghana. the only impressive thing you see is this few interchanges which the previous government did. so celibrating what? very time is to make plan and make money shsmless leaders. Ethiopia has only airlines and flower farms but in 15 years now go and see what's happening. good mordern infrastructure in everything roads skyscripas brautyful mordern citys growing so farst even underground trains trams to mention few. with our countless resources we are zero zero zero. b
