Originally Asantehene is Kumasehene and cannot appoint or interfere in the Chieftancy selection in the six towns or paramountsies which originally came together to form Asante. These we're Juaben, Kokofu, Kumawu, Kumasi etc. The Asantehene was the head among equals. Just like a vice chancellor cannot start appointing or interfering in the appointment of heads of other colleges in the University. When they start doing that and you fail to check then they begin exceeding their powers. What Adofo is complaining about is his view that the current Chieftaincy dispute in Kumawu is because of the hand of Asantehene. Whether true or not is an issue. The Ga Mantse for example cannot appoint or interfere in the appointment of Gbese, LA or Teshie and OSU mantse. It is similar to Asante but the Asantehene has become powerful with time that this power of the others seem blurred.

Otumfou will come in when there is misunderstanding among the king makers to settle the dispute as the overlord of the Asante's.
