A misunderstanding between two brothers over cat meat has resulted in one of them being in critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

For causing unlawful harm to his brother, Eric Fobih, 28, a mason, has been sentenced to one year in hard labour by a Kumasi Circuit Court.

Eric, who pleaded guilty to the one count of causing unlawful harm preferred against him by the prosecution, was convicted on his own plea by the court, presided over by Ms Afua Adu-Amankwah and sentenced accordingly.

In passing the sentence, the judge said though the crime committed was second felony and carries a maximum sentence of 10 years, she took into consideration the fact that the convict was not known to the law, his youthful age “and besides, he pleaded guilty at his first appearance.’’

Facts

Presenting the facts of the case, Inspector Daniel Opoku, told the court that the convict, a mason and Nkansah,unemployed were both residents of Kokoso, a suburb of Kumasi.

He said on March 27, 2014, the two brothers had a meal of cat meat for lunch and reserved some for their supper after which they both left the house.

However, he said after they had left, Nkansah sneaked into the house and ate the rest of the meat.

According to Inspector Opoku, when Eric returned later in the evening and realised that his elder brother had eaten the meat, he confronted him and that resulted in a fight.

Mr Opoku said in the process, Eric took a cutlass that was lying on the ground, and inflicted deep wounds on the hands and legs of the brother.

The victim was rushed to the Emergency and Trauma Unit of KATH where he had remained on admission.

Later on, the case was reported to the police leading to Eric’s arrest.

I bet there are many wondering what Andy-K has to say about this claim. I hate to express my thoughts on this and pour cold water on this long lingering myth. But when my direct ancestors have been mentioned as part of this story, I have something small to say.

In actual fact, the basis of this claim is not new at all but dates back to more than a century ago. It has to do with the close relationship of the Anlos with the Akwamus. That doesn't make it true.

In fact, a social anthropologist like Sandra Greene has tried to explain that, and I go partially with her explanation: I don't believe and accept though that Tsiame, the home town Tsali, was founded by the Akwamus (fugitives). They settled in the Volta gorge, now, Akwamufie.

The original version of the story even placed the Akwamus in Notsie prior to the migration of the Dogbo Ewes. It is all "kpakparetion", of course. The Akwamus were never at Notsie.

Btw, the Torgbui Sri II shown in the picture was known in private life as Cornelius Kofi Kwawukume. He was the first chief/king to be co-opted into the LegCo in 1915.

I personally laugh. Because for this time in History there was no chance the Ashanti nation would have survived without forming alliance with the Ewes or Anloland.
The Anloland Kingdom made the Ashanti Empire what it was. And we all know how the Golden Stool came about. The Holden Stool is the Heart and Soul of the Ashanti Kingdom without it there is no Ashanti Kingdom. It was the reason for the Anglo-Ashanti wars and the Yaa Asantewa war. And the reason the Ashanti King was exiled to Fernando Po Island.
Because the truth was never told all these years. Not even the NPP historian Adu Boahene who did his beat to bury all contributions that the Anloland made to the Ashanti Empire.
It was due to the same reasons that Prempeh gave free land to Anloland people to settle near KNUST Tech. The Ewesecond in Anloga-Kumasi developed beautiful carpentry works and we're since moved away by the NPP government because they were in a PRIME location of the Ashantiland.
Ashanti have married all the beautiful and women from very important families because of money and also wanting their offsprings to be as smart or clever as the Ewes. In modern times only a Royal Konami will even dare marry an Ewe man like Rawlings. Think about the fact that the Aloha man and IGP of Ghana P.K. Kugblenu has all his four daughters married to Twi. This is not a coincidence, Dzifa Bampoe, Dumors and all of such Anlo ladies aND a whole multitude of Ewe women married to Akans.
So for once putting the records straight these Ashanti or Akan people should think twice and stop bastardizing the Ewe Tribe because the Ewes have the secret and what it takes to undo the whole Ashanti Kingdom. Thank you to the author of the article.

If you care to know other African historians described the Asante Kingdom as very violent root of people disrespectful but always want to do business but don't adhered to business protocols and are difficult people to deal in a process their king and some of their elders were taken away by the colonial Masters , but when you read the account of your ancestors to it tells a different picture of colonial masters at the time which mince someone is twisting the story to make himself look good ,
My question is
1.why do everybody have it in a particular way but you're the only people who have it this way
2. How come is only their King and his elders who happens to be taken away from their people
a) simple because they're arrogance, intolerance lack respect and discipline for people and are trouble makes but not strong enough to fight for themselves, that's why they have to sick help of a spiritualist to protect them and help build their Kingdom.This's how the Asante Kingdom was been describe in most African history publications.
Which of course today the same can be said because is a generational problem something different from what with been told by Asante historians who are themselves not educated and see things from a different perspective. I can understand the knowledge in some of those books is way difficult to take in, from what we've been told no wonder you people are the loudest very dam and don't adhered to rising of any kind, very violence but dam at the same time atlist history say so only for it to be twisted to make you'll look good.

Another google search shows that same phtograph and on which is written "Chief Dagadu of Kpandu". So one could assume that it is indeed a picture on Togbe Dagadu.

If that is so, how could Togbe Dagadu be presented here as a CHIEF OF ANLO?

Okomfo Anokye (active late 17th
century) was an Nzema fetish priest, statesman, and lawgiver. Okomfo Anokye was born in Benyin, in
West Nzema-Ghana, West Africa, now called Jomoro, in the late 1600s. His
father was from Benyin and his mother was from Anosuazo, Eastern
Nzema. His father was called Kaku Ackah and His Mother was called Maame Nkob?’. Anokye was named
after his paternal Uncle Egya-Ano who was a fetish priest. The Nzema people
called him Ano kye which means Ano Junior.
The Ashanti and Denkyira, who were unable to pronounce his name, called
him Anokye. He lived in Anosuazo near Atuabo, East Nzema, where he began his priesthood. Anosuazo later
became known as Anokye because of the priest's frequent visitors. Okomfo
Anokye later helped King Amakye, Kwaku Ackah’s Uncle, to defeat the first Europeans who came to the
coast of Nzemaland.
The Denkyira’s later heard of his wonders and requested his aid. Through Anokye’s help, the Denkyira’s successfully defeated the
Ashanti’s. Osei Tutu, the King of the Ashantis at the time, requested Anokye’s aid. Anokye went to Osei
Tutu’s aid in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Empire, with a group of
his tribesmen and women. King Osei Tutu gave Anokye land to settle on after He helped them to defeat the
Denkyiras. The land given to Anokye to settle on was named Nzemaa near Kuradaso ( Kwaadaso) right
there in the Ashanti region.
After the Ashanti defeated the Denkyira, Okomfo Anokye brought the
golden stool from the sky and gave it to the Ashantis. He also put a sword on the ground as a symbol of unity
between the Nzema and the
Ashanti. The oath also prevented the Ashantis from fighting the Nzemas and
allows Ashantis and Nzemas to marry each other with one single plantain as dowry. When Osei Tutu
died, Okomfo Anokye’s life was in danger, so he fled and lived the rest of his life in Awukugua. Through
Okomfo Anokye, Nzema’s gained the nickname, Nzema bayie, which
means Nzemas came well or Nzemas are blessed.

Konadu is a krobo from Odumase. In an Akan Tradition a person is not an akan if the father is one. Akans practice a matrilineal inheritance and that's why an offspring from an Akan Father and a poto mother cant be an akan.

It was alleged that if you were going on a journey with him which would take say three days walking, he would ask you to take the lead. On your arrival at your destination, you would be told that Neenyi arrived three days ago prior to your arrival. Before his death, he commanded not to be buried but that his body should be put on a raised stand. It was done and after some days when the stand was checked, the body had disappeared.

So other tribes didn't know anything? It's like saying that fishing is for only one tribe in the world
Ashantis claimed they don't know where Okomfo Anokye came from. The simple reason is their fore fathers knew that Okomfo Anokye was an anlo man but if they acknowledge him it will mean the anlo's are superior to them.
The simple rivalry between voltarians and ashantis is they fear our superior powers from the time of Okomfo Anokye up till now . No wonder they will refer to a tradition from Volta region as Juju but the copy copy from their lairs as tradition. Ask yourself this simple question , what is the source of the hatred between the ashantis and the ewes? Go back and read history by the late Adu Boahene

I just saw a YouTube video about a week ago which showed Otumfo Osei Tutu II visiting the birthplace and hometown of Okomfo Anokye
The place he visited is Awukugua.
In the video that showed a durbar of chiefs and dignitaries from the Akwapim area, the friendship between Otumfo Osei Tutu I and Okomfo Anokye was the focus of the durbar and there was no mention of the ewe lineage of Okomfo Anokye described in the article you shared.
Since there are all kinds of news and information floating around on the internet these days, more evidence and fact checking is needed for this to be believable.
If this is true, it will be interesting to understand why the ewe ancestry of Okomfo Anokye was never mentioned in any of the history told about the Ashanti kingdom till now.
Fact checking is needed otherwise what is claimed to be true could turn out to be "fake news"

Okomfo Anokye (Okomfo from Notsie) was invited and can it be he relocated to the area where Asantehene met him? Okomfo Anokye is not an Ashanti and that is very clear. So where is he from? Ashantis must stop the claim. Can the Nananom tell us? they know the history. Ewe have black stool in Ashanti kingdom. Is it true?? if yes, why? And what is the reason? Even till now, no Ashanti can come out to tell Ghanaians the have those mystical powers and ewe have... There is no smoke without fire. I believe what ewes are saying to some extend... Okomfo Anokye (active late 17th
century) was an Nzema fetish priest, statesman, and lawgiver. Okomfo Anokye was born in Benyin, in
West Nzema-Ghana, West Africa, now called Jomoro, in the late 1600s. His
father was from Benyin and his mother was from Anosuazo, Eastern
Nzema. His father was called Kaku Ackah and His Mother was called Maame Nkob?’. Anokye was named
after his paternal Uncle Egya-Ano who was a fetish priest. The Nzema people
called him Ano kye which means Ano Junior.
The Ashanti and Denkyira, who were unable to pronounce his name, called
him Anokye. He lived in Anosuazo near Atuabo, East Nzema, where he began his priesthood. Anosuazo later
became known as Anokye because of the priest's frequent visitors. Okomfo
Anokye later helped King Amakye, Kwaku Ackah’s Uncle, to defeat the first Europeans who came to the
coast of Nzemaland.
The Denkyira’s later heard of his wonders and requested his aid. Through Anokye’s help, the Denkyira’s successfully defeated the
Ashanti’s. Osei Tutu, the King of the Ashantis at the time, requested Anokye’s aid. Anokye went to Osei
Tutu’s aid in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Empire, with a group of
his tribesmen and women. King Osei Tutu gave Anokye land to settle on after He helped them to defeat the
Denkyiras. The land given to Anokye to settle on was named Nzemaa near Kuradaso ( Kwaadaso) right
there in the Ashanti region.
After the Ashanti defeated the Denkyira, Okomfo Anokye brought the
golden stool from the sky and gave it to the Ashantis. He also put a sword on the ground as a symbol of unity
between the Nzema and the
Ashanti. The oath also prevented the Ashantis from fighting the Nzemas and
allows Ashantis and Nzemas to marry each other with one single plantain as dowry. When Osei Tutu
died, Okomfo Anokye’s life was in danger, so he fled and lived the rest of his life in Awukugua. Through
Okomfo Anokye, Nzema’s gained the nickname, Nzema bayie, which
means Nzemas came well or Nzemas are blessed.

Anor was his natural name given by his parents at Awukugua, but by his miracles from his childhood which sometimes attacked people whenever he performs. His father being aslo called Anor will be prompted by his wife by saying Anor, kye meaning Anor look.
His spiritual performance was not welcome by the people of Awukugua but spelled him from all Okri land and as he was leaving he curses some of the kingsmen who took part of the conspiracies.
One thing we shouldn't forget is that during that time the name called Ewe was not known in the land of that time and we didn't know how this country was called not until the arrival of the Denish, Portuguese, the English who finally gave us the name GOLD COAST.
