What irks me the most about Nkrumacrats is their penchant for narrating the whole independence movement like Ghanaians did not know exactly what they wanted and how to go about it until Kwaku Ananse Kwame Nkrumah arrived at the Gold Coast.
For these dusty feet gumsuckers our sense of self, history, nationalism only crystalized with the coming of Nkrumah. All others before him were just beating about the bush. Yet when we pause, take stock and reflect over our total collective history, like president Akufo Addo rightly pointed out, we have always had this innate feeling and sense of who we are, from whence we have come and our undying desire for freedom and justice going back thousands of years - from ancient Ghana to date, with exception of the Gas and Ewes who probably came from the Gulf of Guinea probably starting from the Congo basin through Nigeria to their present abode.
A testament to how Kwame Nkrumah and all that he stood for was just a blip in our thousand-year history is the sorry state of the party he formed today - the CPP which can hardly command even 1% of the popular votes compared to the true blood UGCC in its current form as NPP.
Kwame Nkrumah did great things, but to say he is the sole founder of modern Ghana, you have to be a well-intentioned fool to come to that conclusion when the march towards independence was already in full swing before he arrived on the scene from abroad. Akufo Addo gave an abridged version of our 1000 years history and we applaud him for it, setting the records straight. Ghana did not start from the time Kwame Nkrumah arrived on the scene till independence. Ignorant buffoons should not be allowed to foist their bad education on the rest. Kwame Nkrumah just finished a relay race. He didn't start the race.

Per your write up the leaders and or founding fathers of the UGCC/matemeho were either stupid or incompetent if they started a race they told no one it was a relay race or that they would shame Nkrumah for running the final leg to victory. If the folks on the UGCC team were on the same team with Nkrumah they would not have conspired with the colonial masters at the time to seek suspension of granting independence to Ghana if the end results meant Nkrumah would be the new leader of Ghana. There would also be no reason for the clowns in the UGCC to run against Nkrumah for the post of Prime Minister if Nkrumah was their team mate. The fact to the matter is that the clowns lost and the growing family tree and all the jackass followers can rewrite the history of Ghana all they want but the fact still remains that Nkrumah outsmarted the colonial masters and the UGCC particularly J.B. Danquah who at the time saw himself as the brains. So hate Nkrumah if you must but Nkrumah was Ghana's first prime minister and not all those being brought out as some kind of lost heroes. Remember Christians rejected Christ when he lived amongst men and so it goes that NPP and the sore losers can hate Nkrumah to the bitter end but not one of you shameless clowns can wipe the Nkrumah name but God.

I think Ghanaians have to be honest with ourselves and accept that Nkrumah was no Saint and by the time of his overthrow the mere mention or calling his name would land you in prison.
If Nkrumah was still ruling or continued with his rule till his death, Ghana would be worst than North Korea.
In the history of a nation there are many actors and each has its entrance and exit.
Before Nkrumah came to the scene there were others and who laid the foundation and platform for him to work. its a history we cannot erase.

Like it or not, the Colonialists forced our country eventually together by either buying out the other colonial outposts along the coast or fighting and defeating/annexing the Asante nation and their conquered territories in their quest for their own expanding Kingdom!! We therefore have only HEROES, ONE OF THE MOST PROMINENT being Nkrumah, during our quest for independence for the colonial entity we eventually came to call GHANA. I will therefore, suggest that if we need to have any national day of celebration, then it should be called HEROES DAY AND NOT FOUNDER OR FOUNDERS DAY! One can only thank Prez Akufo-Addo for his excellent historical exposition of our independence quest and journey.

The fact is that the U.P. members were missing in action when the independence of Ghana was being declared and celebrated at the Polo Grounds because they were afraid that they will be sanctioned by the British.
We must remember that the Polo Grounds was one of the areas in Accra that were of reach for Negroes in the Gold Coast before independence. Another one was the Ridge Hospital.
So on 6/3/1957 other Ghanaians were smashing their chain of colonial slavery but members of U.P. were afraid that they will be punished by the British if they smashed theirs.
So physically and spiritually they still carry those chains, together with members of their generations that did not break away from the chain of colonial slavery by belonging to that party.
So how come that a person who physically and spiritually carry the chain of slavery, love it and adorn it claim that he is free to have smashed the same. Let these people do away with this self deception.
