Nkrumah was the protagonist of the genial idea, Independenc e Now which will break the bank of the British imperialist .

And who the hell are you to use your perspective of history to discredit the President's perspective of the same History. Even looking at the "facts" you presented, it is clear that Ghana wasn't founded just by the action of one man. So what's the fuse about Nana Addo saying that the originators of self-government deserve the same recognition as the latter saint who became the General Secretary?

Excellent historical perspective, balanced and objective.Akuffo will be in danger of ending up a failed leader if he should continue with his family battle against Nkrumah.
He is trying to elevate a tradition that will forever be the scorn of progressives and the youth and the generations to come will not forgive him for distorting our history.
It is stupid to fight against the tide of history especially when the force behind that historical tide is too powerful to stop.Akuffo must learn from history.

Give credit where it is due. Nkrumah was given birth to by the UGCC before he grew up in Ghana politics.
Nobody is disputing Nkrumah's contribution towards the attainment of Ghana's independence. It is important to credit where he started and the person who pushed him.
It is very disingenuous to down play the significance of the Aborigines Right Society without looking at the effect of legislation they fought against and the impact of same on other countries in Africa.
John Mensah Sarbah and colleagues fought for Gold Coast within the confines of the prevailing circumstance at their time.
Your write up gave credence to the the contribution of Nkrumah towards and after Ghana's independence but woefully and shamelessly failed to recognize that Kwame continued from where he met the struggle
That is being ungrateful to your "mother"

Nkrumah started with the Pan African Movement in London, and that is how he came to be noticed and invited to be General Secretary of UGCC.
The struggle for Independence comes from either of two wars; armed conflict as in the MAU MAU of Kenya or Intellectual conflict.
Prior to Nkrumah the struggle for independence was about the elitist groups hoping to succeed the British. No one envisaged universal suffrage where the masses had to be politically "conscientized" so they could participate in the political process. And it is to his credit that he was able to form the CPP embracing the uneducated who were sneered at by the elite, and to embark on a campaign of enlightening them to be masters of their own destiny. His programme for self government involved universal education so the masses would not only be numerate and literate but as he elaborates in his book conscienscism they will become philosophically enlightened and free.
His ten year development with the Akosombo dam as the source of energy for industrialisation shows him as having the national or race advancement as his goal. He perhaps craved the attention but did not divert state resources into personal overseas account.
His mastery at the dispatch box to advance the case for independence in intellectual disputation with the British and his ability to craft legislation was quite phenomenal.
That is what makes him uniquely qualified to be described as the founder of modern Ghana.

Nobody is challenging the fact that Nkrumah led Ghana into independence but that does not translate into him being the founder of Ghana.
How can you as a rational man argue with emotion that Nkrumah is the founder of Ghana when you accept that he was invited by a group that has started same and he continued from where he met the group.
Nkrumah led Ghana into independence but he is not the founder of Ghana.

There is this odd thing going on with Akufo Addo. Maybe it explains why he did not mention Guggisberg, and his goal to build a Guggisberg economy for Ghana, at least since the last time.
READ: "...I pay homage to Nana Ofori-Atta I, who saw the wisdom in investing in the education of the young...".
Who'd ever thought?
ITEM: "...Under Kwame Nkrumah's leadership, in 15 short years, university enrollment alone jumped through the proverbial "roof" about 1,965%, from 208 to 4,291.
"In fact, Presidents Akufo Addo Dankwa, John Atta Mills, and John Kufour are all represented in those "University Student Enrollment" numbers.
"To the point, using this example of success in education alone, Ghana could not have achieved 355% and 839% across the board quantum leaps in the number of schools and number of students enrolled, respectively, to include a 690% change in "Teacher Training", without spending and investing some of the reserves Kwame Nkrumah's own government accrued for Ghana in the 1950s.
(Read all about that in our paper, www.modernghana.com/news/757977/quantum-leap-in-education-under-kwame-nkrumah-and-the-cpp-1.html).

So what is the state of Nkrumahism today? Who are the so called Nkrumahists? What is the state of the CPP today? The UP tradition has managed to maintain its identity, won three elections and currently ruling this country. The young people of today are attracted to the NPP which is the successor of the UP. Today, the CPP and their other allies do not have a seat in Parliament. Are the so called Nkrumahists not ashamed of this situation? Are they not ashamed that they have destroyed the Nkrumah legacy? Instead of fighting Nana Addo they should rather expend their energies on reviving the CPP and make Nkrumahism relevant.
