A criminal does not catch a criminal. The politicians who are supposed to supervise the system are themselves busily engaging in the illegal act-galamsey. The politicians have teamed up with the Chiefs, the Chinese, the regulators and the security forces to dupe the nation.

You have said it all. All of them are in the same boat milking Ghana one village at a time, one river at a time and one farm at a time. We are doomed forever.

I agre. We are definitely doomed forever. Politicians are a bunch of liars. If you disagree with me, why haven't they made meaningful attempts to curb the menace of galamsey? They are indeed not trustworthy.

That tells us that "water is life" but the stupid and senseless Ghanaian politician or whatever, has no idea how precious water is. They are always thinking about how to make millions and let the vulnerable who depends on nature die slowly.
Can any Ghanaian go to China and connive with some elements and start digging for whatever they have lost? Hell no. Because the Chinese value their land and love to preserve it for the next generation. Those who carved that nation onto to the world made sure that country lives on for eons of years and made statues that no generation should dare end it.
Ghanaians do not have that idea because we keep hearing that the world is now a "global village" and one can choose to live anywhere he/she choose. Meaning, the country called Ghana should come to an end on some peoples watch. Yes, this generation have vowed to destroy all our water bodies, the precious earth that we rely on for our daily food just for people to see them as "filthy millionaires" without thinking that a time will come that they have to import water at an exorbitant price.
What we haven't noticed is that the Sahara Desert is encroaching us very slowly. Instead of us to sit and come out with some solutions, we are rather pushing ourselves towards the desertification of our land. Very sad and who will be the brave Ghanaian to say, enough is enough of this galamsey unrelenting destruction our land?

Whilst I agree with a large portion of your annotation, it shouldn't take a single Ghanaian to fight the war of 'galamsey'. We should all come together and halt the menace head-on.

Comrades,'considering how gallamsey is destroying our country, the entire activity and its business should be made illegal. From the extraction to the buyer. Say gallamsey is destroying our entire country not only land. If the land is not there the country is not there. I am very surprised until present Government came to power people were not seeing the extent to which our country had been destroyed by gallamsey operations. Was it that people were afraid to talk about it under previous Government and how the issue was handled? Comrades I am afraid of you Ghanaians. In fact someone attending school say SHS will stop school and find short-cut to life by doing gallamsey. They same applies to chiefs, Assembly man, police officer and our big politicians. All short-cut. Down here too, the moment a government comes to power, the next month citizens will shouting we are not feeling the monies in our pockets. So Who Are Ghanaians? If we continue doing this we will destroy our country and runaway to become complete Slaves in peoples countries. A word to a wise is enough. Thank You!

Thank you, Mr Badu. Today, our rivers/water sources are being poisoned, our forests, wildlife habitats and are being destroyed by these galamsey activities. Our successive governments[both NDC & NPP] have failed to crack down on these galamsey activities and the Chinese illegal miners because those behind them are our traditional chiefs, politicians and political party donors. Because of greed and selfishness there are no concern about the risks pose to human health and the damage to the environment.
How effective are the Government institutions suppose to monitor and regulate such activities? Why are The Mining Sector Regulators, the EPA, the Forest Commission, the Ministry of Environment, the Police/Law enforcement agencies failing to crack down on such environmental crimes? Simply because our politicians and chiefs are complicit in the galamsey activities.
I think it's time for citizens/individuals, communities, environmental campaigners, journalists be encouraged to take photographs and video recorded images of such environmental crimes and take legal actions against District Assemblies. Such actions could expose the politicians and chiefs behind them in court.

We have been doing this for centuries without progress, chiefs have no positive role to play in modern day Ghana. It is a dead institution that needs to be moved to the museums.
Our culture needs complete overhaul, we need to do away with arrogance, foolish prise etc as exhibited during our primitive funeral celemonies. We need to do away with institutions that promote superstition adultary and other immoral conduct. We need to move away from darkness(Devil) int Light(God)
