The manet, trassaco and eighteen sides are very dangerous as in private vehicles actually stop on the motorway before getting off posing a great danger to the vehicles behind..

People carelessly cross resulting in a lot of people getting knocked down every now and then. it is fast becoming a death trap. Authorities should do something now before it is too late.

We must redesign to satisfy the requirements of its present day use. There are many settlements along the motorway now and this accounts for the need for people to alight at those dangerous locations. Where there is demand, there is money to be made, and service responds. I propose that proper lay byes be created at those identified locations to allow drivers to move off the dual lanes before letting off passengers. The stretch of the lay byes must be long enough to allow the vehicles to accelerate and gain speed before reentry into the dual lanes. I also recall there is supposed to be a service road along the motorway to cater for this need, which is yet to be constructed. If there is no money then let us do the lay byes as a stop gap measure.

Your parent had to plan for this. When Nkrumah built the motorway in 1965 there was not a single house in sight so hardly did anyone walk across or stop along it. It suited us perfectly then. Today, the N1 and the Achimota-Ofankor roads were built in densely populated areas so the provision of barriers were made to separate pedestrian traffic from vehicular traffic, so were local routes provided to stop private and passenger vehicles interfering with the high-speed long-distance vehicles. The situation is completely different from what it was 52 years ago; houses and factories have sprung up all along the motorway, so how do you expect these thousands of people to access their dwellings and work places? The lack of a strategic urban planning policy is the reason we are facing these needless problems and accidents on this stretch of road. It's high time it's status as a motorway is downgraded to reflect it's current usage.

Whatever ails Ghana should be laid right at the footstools of the NPP and NDC. These two parties have been in charge of Ghana politics for some 20 years now (longer than the period Nkrumah and the CPP led Ghana) and the two parties have managed to turn Ghana into a proverbial animal kingdom figuratively and literally. NPP and NDC think more about staying in power (offering party members the opportunity to steal from the national coffers) than doing what is right by Ghana. Did Kufour not bring in a fleet of buses to run in the metro areas only to fold the idea because the association of private transport owners complained of government competition? Why is it that the NPP and NDC loves to copy things the UK or USA has to offer the world and yet ignore the very things that have served to improve lives in those nations? Does the UK and or the USA not have public transport system in metropolitan and larger cities? Galamsey activities are destroying Ghana and yet neither the NDC or NPP has the balls to stop it. How many of the morons who are and have been critics of Nkrumah doubt galamsey would never have taken place in Ghana under Nkrumah? Nkrumah did not tolerate terrorist and unhealthy agitators and the Danquah folks live to tell their story, even if full of falsehoods. Today the people who disliked Nkrumah's stand against acts of terror are deaf, dumb and mute enjoying living in the USA, Canada, all across Europe and many parts of the world where people suspected of terror activities or as sympathizers are held in prison without trial. How many of the Danqauh loyalists living outside Ghana have dared to compare what is happening in civilized nations of the earth to the Nkrumah era detentions and come out against events of now? Ghana does not get to be independent or develop when we have foreign citizens destroying our water, land, environment and ecosystem while a bunch of political fools in the NDC and NPP compete to see which party can screw Ghana the most? If the Accra-Tema motorway does not allow roadside stoppages and drivers must travel at and or beyond a certain minimum speed limit why would trucks and vehicles that are unfit to transport animals ply the motorway? The NPP and NDC parties must not allow the desperation that has engulfed Ghana since 1970 to now drive us into destroy Ghana or sell Ghana from underneath the next generation. We do not help the case of being black/negroid in this racially vicious world when we consistently exhibit foolish tendencies in our decisions thereby not being able to govern ourselves.

It was operational before thoughts came to minds that an over walkway was needed. It should have been an under ground walkway so that accident could completely be avoided. What ever building we put up in Ghana should be people centred with accessible walk for both the disabled and able bodied people. This sadly is not happening. Able bodied often feel they have the upper hand in life thus looking down on the less abled. This is a shift we ought to work as an on going process in Ghana.
