  When we were in elementary school, we had prayers for everything. The most popular was "for girls" which will make you win the love of the girl it's made for.
  
  But there were others too: for exams, for avoiding punishment, for winning soccer matches,...
  
  Belief in superstition is still widespread in Africa. It's not only "for bullets", "sikaduro" is still very popular in Ghana especially among some particular tribes.
  
  Even the President of the Republic also believes in superstition. Why else will he publicly proclaim that he fought spirits and principalities to win the elections. The president also believes in "for winning elections".
  
  But the worst effect of superstition in our societies is the belief in foreign religions - specifically Christianity and Islam. Unfortunately, most of us don't see that belief in Jesus Christ, Muhammad and even god is the same superstition like belief in witchcraft or anti-bullet charms.
  
  It will take us a long time to wean ourselves from such beliefs, unfortunately.
